It's all subjective ain't it.

Personally I would have said The Beautiful Ones based on emotional input, which after all is one of the most important elements of a song.


But then recently, I discovered that Joy in Repetition is in fact, THE BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN BY PRINCE, JUST BECAUSE IT IS . Give GB a chance and listen to it - I can't believe I missed that song all these years. Is there an extended version of it anywhere without the screwed up overdubbed intro as with the album version??

It's a really tough call, but I think "Love 2 the 9s" has everything I love about Prince's music in one song. That's my personal best.

Runners up are I Hate U, She Spoke 2 Me, The One, and Play in the Sunshine.

A tough one but I'm going with Purple Rain. That song has so much power in it from start to finish. That song just takes me away everytime I hear it and it's the one song that everyone seems to like along with When Doves Cry.

Anna Stesia. That's the most powerful song he's made in my opinion. Purple Rain, The Love We Make, and Last December are close but not quite there.

Forget the fact that it was the biggest-selling single of 1984,and that it stayed at Number One for weeks.It's a true MASTERPIECE,an intoxicating gem that has aged remarkably well.It still sounds as fresh,daring and vital as it did when we first heard it in the late spring of 1984.It's not only HIS best song,it's one of the best pop songs of all-time!
