Why does the crowd sound so tame on Nothing Compares 2 U?

I'm of course referring to the The Hits live version - why is the crowd so damn quiet? One lady says "Yeah!" at the start and there's a mild smattering of applause at the beginning and end, but that's it! Have they toned down the crowd noise in the mix or something?

depends on how many people where in the crowd, some of
those Paisley parties back in the day were very intimate.

When you listen to soundboard bootlegs the audience sounds tamer than audience recordings.

I always assumed it was the recording technique, not the audience.

A bad recording of a small audience not being terribly impressed with a crap version of a good song.

Soundboards are not meant to capture the audience, they focus on the performance more. And remember, any soundboard released by the midget is ALWAYS sanitized from the other sounds.

The crowd was into that performance, trust in that.

It must b 2 due with how the song is recorded. U can also hear'feedback' in the song 2. I would have preferred a 'studio' version but the version on The Hits/B-Sides is cool but recording quality of the song is rather average IMO.

As far as I know, the crowd is tame because this version was recorded at a shindig for record execs... Not the most enthusiastic people out there you know...
