According to MOJO magazine, Prince's favourite album is 'The Hissing Of Summer Lawns' by Joni Mitchell.

I thought Prince was one of those artists that won't listen to his own music in his spare time.

I doubt he locks onto one song or album as his favorite for any length of time. Human, like us, see?

I tell you what. I bet he likes them all, but hell yeah, I bet when he was in the studio recording one or two of these, I KNOW he was dancing around like Edison when the light bulb worked.
Just like K.C. said when they were mixing down "Get Down Tonite" he KNEW it was a stone cold hit. So, with THAT in mind, what songs do you think made him dance around the studio and play it over and over, revelling in his creativity? I would say, "Get Off" - on the stops - "Let me show you baby I'm a talented boy" and "OH MY GOD!" - I just KNOW he had to be laughing at how it was going to blow minds... NOT to mention "Get it Up" - it must have been exciting to pull off such a killer jam, and dying laughing that the public wouldn't know it was him... something like that. Not sure about his own songs but I remember an interview with Lisa Coleman in 88 in which she stated that Prince had a tape playing in his car while she was the passenger.
Cars by Gary Numan was on the tape twice so he must like that one.

I know I don't know Prince personally, but I don't "fink" he's the kind of guy who's going to love those songs the most because they made him famous. Who knows? They could very well be his favorites, but because of the artistry, not the fame aspect.

My guess is something like How Come U Don't Call Me or one of his ballads. Maybe Free? EVERYTIME since 1985, that he is in NY he plays Purple Rain. He has to be sick of that song by now.

Often in a family with children, the supposed 'faves' are the youngest and oldest. I feel a bit sorry for the middle children, 'cos they often feel left out. It doesn't have to be this way. Each role in a family is to be respected. Each Prince song is to be respected.

"Power Fantastic" is certainly among my favorite three Prince songs, so I wouldn't be surprised. Interesting, though, that he'd say this about a work which, by many accounts, sprang from Lisa Coleman's conception. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
