Another aspect of this is your personal perception based on your experiences and environment.people have thought that I was black,spanish,white,mulatto,hawaiian,and a wino once thought I was chinese.

I have always thought prince was black because I grew up in ane nvironment where most of the black people I knew did not have "traditional" African features.I'm very used to a rwide range of colrs and hair textures and eye colors.I knew brothers with blue eyes and green eyes and hazela nd brown.My father's eyes change color.

Also,as someone mentioned about lighting and the sun's influence.Plus,sometimes one gets lighter as one gets older.Myself and a buddy of mine started out kinda' golden colored and now in some pics I look like a ghost.We have definitely gotten lighter since early childhood,as did Prince.(loo at his middle school and high school pics)

Anyway,like Tiger Woods..we are all mixed up.Hell,we just looked into the sun and dreamed in colors.Either way, Prince is funky.It's really only an issue if it's an issue to you.

Hey, don't let me give you the impression that it matters to me what colour his skin is. I'm just wondering how the colour changed so dramatically. But yes, y'all right, he's a black guy who looks white now and then.

y'all do realize that this thread wasn't asking wht his race was or disputing that he was black, it was asking why he skin color seems to be light sometimes and darker sometimes, I swear some just love to go on that "Prince IS black" rant, stop reading into stuff too much.

Now as far as the real question goes:
He's a light-skinned black man, the reason why the color of his skin varries at times can be because of tanning, make-up, or simply just lighting.
It's probably the last two.

I've also had people tell me that Ben Harper was white.They also think that Bob Barr is white.These are very light blacks.Just like the Bee Gees are very light blacks!

As an aside, I think the lightest I've EVER seen Prince is on the single for "Arms of Orion." When I saw that shot, I was like," DAMN!"

I don't see really how Prince could pass as a white guy myself?
