A thread from a non-Prince newsgroup (but about Prince)

I read a celebrity news/gossip newsgroup and tonight as I was perusing threads there, I saw one titled "Remember in the 80s..". I clicked on it not knowing it was going to be about Prince. biggrin

I an always interested in reading what people who are not into Prince or the whole "Prince community" have to say about him and thought maybe others here might be, as well.

The following is the content of the entire thread (each separate message is prefaced by ">>>"):

Remember back in the 80s...

>>>..when everybody thought that Prince was the sexual freak and Michael Jackson was the clean one? How times change!

>>>Ah, the good ole days. Who could forget Prince in those thongs...

>>>If I were to choose between a compilation of Prince's songs and Jacko's, I'd definitely go with Prince. His later music might be slightly off but his stuff up to 1990 was mostly good. And "Purple Rain" is still an excellent
album!

>>>Sorry, ten years later and Prince's assless pants are still giving me nightmares.

>>>And when it comes to both songwriting and performing he can't hold a candle to Jacko.

>>>I guess it just depends on musical taste...never did like Jacko...never bought a thing by him. Was not a huge fan of Prince either, but would definitely pick him over MJ.

>>>i've always had a preference for musicians... so in my book Prince wins.

>>>nobody can hold a candle to jacko...his face would melt.

>>>I'm tied between 1999 and Purple Rain. Another favorite of mine was believe it or not, the Batman soundtrack.

>>>And now he's a JW and changing all those songs I loved so much back in the 80s... Damn shame.

>>>I don't remember people thinking Prince was a sexual freak but rather just curious if he was gay or not...in the early days of his career. I *do* remember thinking Rick James was a sexual freak after he was found to have held a woman against her will.

>>>Rick James wasn't just a freak. He was a Superfreak. (A Superfreak! He's super freaky, yow!)

>>>I remembr thinking Prince would be very very hot between the sheets and just couldn't picture MJ there.

>>>Apparently he is. There's a very famous (in Europe) French model/actress/singer Ophelie Winter, who used to, well, basically commute here on weekends to be with Prince (I believe she was in high school at the time). She said in over 500 sexual encounters with him, she found god (typed
lowercase so as not to blaspheme).

Now that's backwards thinking! Hmm.

Anyway, thanks for the post. It's interesting to see what non-believers think, for the real.

WHAT?!

OK, so some (poor, misguided fools) might think Jacko's a better performer (and they're completely wrong of course wink ) but as a songwriter P pisses all over MJ. I can't see how anyone can think otherwise.
