Are you kidding? Richard Marx is Prince's musical hero. Moreso even than Sly, Jimi, James and Santana put together!

I hear he get's a lot of inspiration from Michael Bolton too.

There is a definite similarity to the two melodies; however, I seriously doubt that Prince even remembers that song.

I thought you meant that Prince was inspired by Richard Marx's infamous 80s poodle mullet.
