I'm with most of you guys on this one. 2004 can be Prince's biggest year in a very very long time. He needs to hire a PR Team quick. The 20th year anniversary of Purple Rain along with him being inducted in the hall...
Man, he should own next year.

Iam glad for Prince and I am super glad for the Dells. It's about time for them. The late George Harrison, Prince, Traffic and ZZ Top are among the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Jackson Browne, the Dells and Bob Seger round out the group. Harrison was previously inducted in the Rock Hall's 1988 class as a member of the Beatles. The 19th annual induction ceremony will be held March 15 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. A Lifetime Achievement Award / Non-Performer honoree will be announced soon. "These inductees represent many influential genres of rock and roll, including pop, funk, soul, boogie and psychedelia," Executive Director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Suzan Evans says in a statement. "We expect this year's show to be unique and exciting with highly anticipated moments." Artists become eligible 25 years after the release of their first recording. A Foundation committee nominates eligible artists, who are then voted on by an international body of about 700 music experts.

Blue "This shit better be televised" Yes, normally VH-1 does an edited-down version of like 2 hours or something for a week or two in March. But to see the entire ceremony unedited and whatnot you have to be in attendance in New York City or in Cleveland at the Rock Hall for the simulcast. Ticketmaster or Tickets.Com will be selling simulcast tickets to the event. Last time I searched the tix were about $20 for the simulcast event at the Rock Hall. Of course there will be more perks if you are a Rock Hall member.

This show start the ball rolling. Next - show up at The Family Jamm. Then release a single & video. Then the new cd. Announcement of World Tour. Followed by rerelease of PR & rest of catalog. And somewhere in there squeeze out TCI. By next fall we should be rolling in Princeness. Oh I love to dream. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the Hall of Fame ceremony in March. I think that will be squeezed in after the new cd is released but before the world tour starts up. And we learned today that International Male is already preparing the new Prince Purple Rain line of clothing: http://www.prince.org/msg/100/70035 http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

My point exactly. I don't know if you've looked at my previous post but I was wondering why The Pistols or Iggy for that matter didn't get in. They've been overlooked for how long now? 5 years or something? And yet they were one of the founders of the Punk revolution. But on the other hand, seeing Prince being inducted is gonna be THE EVENT OF THE YEAR!!! And you know what? I'll bet you any amount of money that Prince will go on last. They always save the best for last. Prince has been no exception. Oh, boy, , I'm just salivating thinking about it. It's gonna be f:censored:in' HUGE!! a2grafix said: THIS IS GREAT NEWS. Twenty-oh-four is shaping up to be another great Prince year with the 20th anniversary of the movie and soundtrack Purple Rain. Regardless of what has happened in the 1990s with the slave era, music critics and the others that voted for him overlooked that and saw that he was, and still is, an innovator of the Minneapolis Sound.
Just wish it happened in 2003, but 2004 is just as great. One more year of anticpation and build-up. For those in Cleveland or planning a trip to the Rock Hall of Fame soon, take a look into HMV music store. With the announcement, ALL of Prince's works are now being moved into a special inductee / hall of fame section. But, where is Iggy Pop and the Stooges? Or even the Sex Pistols? You know The Detroit Crawl Motor Babies will be in New York City and Cleveland at the Rock Hall for the simulcast on March 15! I plan to be there. . . And we Detroiters can also cheer on home-boy inductee Bob Seger, too. Glad that Harrison is getting in. Now, he's one who's "about damn time".

Sigh. Just what Prince needs. An award to validate his contribution to society (and himself). I woulda thought that would have been self-evident.
Does Prince respect the 'professional music experts' who vote for Hall of Sham recommendation?

Great news, congratulations to him.
Just read this article myself: Prince to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Publishing date: 11-20-2003 4:05 PM (New York-AP) -- Prince, the famous musician who calls Minnesota home, is riding his little red corvette into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Artists are eligible for induction into the hall 25 years after their first recording is released. Prince, whose biggest album remains the multiplatinum disc ``Purple Rain,'' is being inducted upon his first eligibility. His first album for Warner Brothers Records was ``For You,'' released in 1978. The class of 2004 inductees, announced today, also includes former Beatle George Harrison, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, Traffic, ZZ Top and the Dells. The induction ceremony is scheduled for March 15 in New York City. Copyright 2002 by The Associated Press. This is truly a great day. Prince is a true creative genius and is worthy of this honor. I don't know of a harder working individual in music today. He has always been so dedicated to the music. Through the years, he has always put the music first and has never made his fan's starve for music (unlike most artist's who have a 3 year gap between albums). I wonder who will give the induction speech? Sly Stone, George Clinton, Joni Mitchell, or maybe even James Brown? The traditional group JAM should be very interesting.
