So. 319 - Is it 1989, or 1993? I never heard any confirmation from collectors or such that this song was definately a 1993 song in origin.
After than infamous letter from Uptown years ago, it has always been in mind when I hear 319 that it has that 1989 "Partyman" ring to it, those synth-horns especially. The vocals do sound 1993 though, so who knows. That's why I'm asking! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Me too, but with all due respect - you haven't really given a reason for the case of 1989 or 1993 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Time is a trick - it does not exist when you consider the entire physical universe as an all-encompassing living entity in itself

an ex-associate told me once that it was a batman outtake. She didn't have a copy of it to prove as such, but when it all comes down... who fucking cares?!

319 was recorded in October 1993.
Prince recorded Chaos And Disorder, Gold, Right The Wrong and Billy jack Bitch in the same sessions.

Thanks Boris.
You know I was waiting for you're reply There was that letter in Uptown though a fan said they had heard Cat say she had heard the song before, was she just mistaken, or was it all BS? [This message was edited Thu Nov 20 16:45:51 PST 2003 by Romance1600] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's always possible that 319 was written earlier, there's just
no confirmed record of it existing prior to the recording session in October 1993. A lot of songs were written a lot earlier than their release (eg: I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Empty Room, Strange Relationship, Tick Tick Bang etc.) so it may be true.

I was relying on you! So there's still no evidence to suggest eitherwise, that fan letter could be true. I guess we need to hear it from Cat, or better still Prince - but we know THAT is unlikely ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I always thought that 319 was a 1989 track too. If you listen to not only the horn section, but the guitar. That is a distinct guitar sound Prince used in 1989 and only 1989. It really sounds like the guitar solo from Batdance. __________________________________________________

Vocally it sounds like 1993.

it might sound vocally like 93 because that's when the one on TGE was recorded but the question is when was it written or when was it first recorded

well, it wont make it a better or worse song.

Dude, I respect foreign opinion, but that shit is off the map.
