Do you think we'll be saying this in X years time, or do you think Prince is JW for life?

What a waste if he is.

Believe me as long as Larry Graham's alive, Prince will censor himself and when Larry's dead, Prince will become him and do everything the way Larry would do it cos "it's the right way to do it and it's the truth"...
The nasty, innovative, original, experimental, gutsy and downright kickass Prince who did what he felt instead of letting himself be retricted by religious sealotism is a thing of the past and will not return...

Basically what u have here is disrespect. If anyone respected Prince they would respect his beliefs and not denounce them. Hey when Prince was lewd and singing about blatant acts of sexual conduct not everybody dug him. Now that he has tapered it down drastically and become more mature and is thinkin' about the consequences of multiple partners, as in his latest song, he will be denounced by people who have not matured to that level of conscience thinking.

When I was a babe I thought thought's of a babe. But the older I become the more I realize that my former thoughts and actions brought upon me a load of pain. Just because someone chooses to use the invitation that God grants to all humans to "know" him or "taste him" to see that he is good, is definately not going to cause him any pain. Prince is now beyond ridicule because the ridiculers do not have the profound knowledge of right and wrong.

It is like someone with a high school level of education trying to dictate to one who has went off to college and is studying for his master degree. All this sex stuff in rap and in video's has nothing to do with music. Point blank! Record companys are trying and have been quite successful at fusing "soft-porn" lyrics and suggestive imagery to billions of people.

My thing is this, why apologize just for the sake of the org? Don't fake the funk, if you like the raunchy old lyrics and the profanity find another artist that is doing that, there are plenty to choose from. As a producer it is laughable because the more sex that is pushed on society through video the worse off people will become. Amazing how the influence of a strong beat can have on the mental. Add that beat with sexual lyrics and there is your trance. Almost hypnotic and ever so subtle.

One day he will wake up, and Larry will come in his bedroom and say: "You ready to go to Kingdom Hall?" And P will go: fuse "Fuck that gay shit muthafucka, Rude Boy is so f*ckin' tired of that MF-ing shit! Get yo' ass outta my house and take all your watchtower friends with you! wave It's time fo' Da Funk!" headbang

It'll be any day now... guitar

Prince might have moved on right now, but it was only a few short years ago that he was singing about pussy control, sexy motherfuckers, bitches and niggas.

Prince's potty mouth has contributed quite a lot to the things you outline in your judgemental diatribe.

Big deal. Basically you are just stating the latter again. Your like a sample looped over and over. The more you repeat the same thing the more your mind believes it. Step outside your comfort zone and the "obvious" will be apparent. What is positive about anything you just wrote? Are you going to teach it to your kids? Especially if you have a daughter, are you gonna label her a bitch and teach her that her vagina is considered "pussy"?

Who cares about what he "used" to sing about. You think that God is looking down upon him with a smile or a frown? Now that he has chosen to be more responsible for his lyrics he has gained a new type of fam base. Sure he will lose the ones who like lewdness but what were those fams giving him back in return? Take the spirituality out of it and you still will see that he has changed for the better unless you are just one of those who love smut.

I don't have problem with him being JW now...I don't agree with it, but it's his choice.

What I do have a problem with is that he seems to be tampering with his old "dirty" work so that it gels with his newfound beliefs. It'd be one thing if from now on, all his music was profanity-free, but to edit all his classic work? disbelief That's just not cool

I'm not trying to be positive or negative, you attached those values onto what I write because of your own agenda. I pose the question to induce conversation about the topic it relates to - that in itself is neither positive, or negative.

As for me teaching my future kids, it ain't ever gonna happen, but do you seriously think because I asked this question related to censoring his songs that I would teach any future offspring to swear? I don't even remember stating that I WANTED Prince to continue swearing, or that I even liked swearing in music or not - I just asked if anyone here thought he would continuing censoring his old music.

I think I've seen one person answer the question in the first post of this thread, the rest have been complaining and whining that I've created a "negative" thread. Fine if you don't wanna answer the question, but why post in the thread?

It's not negative to ask a question - I ASKED DO YOU THINK PRINCE WILL BE A JW FOREVER, OR WILL IT BE JUST ANOTHER PHASE.

Sorry to shout, but seems there are lots of "fams" on here who either can't read properly, or just sprinkle what they do read with a spoonful of their own imagination.

You are attaching your own values of what you think God is to what I've said. Consider for a moment that I have a different view point from that which you do, of who God is.
