Journey's End? (long - sorry)

All paths prior to '88 seemed to lead to Lovesexy. Around the World In A Day and Sign O The Times were so almost there. He had all of the questions, knew he wanted to be somewhere but wasn't sure where and was starting to get a clearer vision of where to find the answers and direction. Then in all the confusion the Black album happened, out of this was born Lovesexy which seemed to be the true way forward. Here was a man that had found the answers, had found the ladder and climbed to reach his higher self. He had found his spirit, come to terms with his own inner turmoil, "I got two sides and they're both friends". Lovesexy showed us the past and the future but also that they would always be in the present. We had Camille & Prince. If it were not for the beatles famous album I feel certain Lovesexy would have been called the White album.

Batman continued the same path and was the perfect fit to follow Lovesexy.

Let the battle commence, let the show begin (again). "I've seen the future and it will be". Enter Gemini. Gemini was the name given to this character. One side is black, one side is white, both are opposites, but opposites attract and likes repel, so does good attract evil, can one exist without the other, can it be trusted? To the left or right, black or white, "keep bustin". Who is this character? Is he good or bad, for the black or the white, more to the point does he know himself. Gemini, Batman and The Joker, Prince and Camille. In the video Gemini is constantly moving, he can't stand still, from one side to the next he moves in a torrent of changing emotions. The battle of good and evil ensues with Gemini's Batman and Joker urges fighting to dominate. Anothe factor enters the fray. "Oh yeah, I wanna bust that body ...if a man is considered guilty for what goes on in his mind then gimme the electric chair for all my future crimes". Seperating the two factions Gemini sees a glistening symbol of almost apolcalyptic power. He begins to covet the feeling of strength and power the electric chair holds, at last he can rid himself of his torment, at last he can remove the Joker "I'm gonna kill you". Frustration brings him to wrestle with the demon within himself "haven't you heard of the healing power of laughter". "we could live for a little whle, if you would just learn to smile". Sound familiar? Suddenly a change. Gemini has a problem but he doesn't want to face it. He tries to slide out of the predicament, just as the air in his sign of Gemini needs to circulate. STOP. The masked figure in black stops his escape, there is no evading the truth and what has to be done. But what of the caped crusader and the Joker. Why is Batman in black and portrayed to being akin to a creature usually associated with cinemagraphic evil and yet the real villain is vivaciously parading in white. Appearances can be deceptive, can you ever accept anything at face value and make an assessment based on an appearance.

There is much more to everything than meets the windows of your soul but that is for each individual to discover for themselves. "Ask and it will be given to you (the questions), seek and you shall find (the journey), knock and the door will be opened to you (the next step).

Did we ever establish where we were? Were we in the depths of Gotham City, in the recesses of Prince's mind or in the subconscious of our own.

All this and Trust too!

Since this period of time there have been glimpses of Prince's certainty that he had found the answers but nothing as clear or as affirmative. What happened to put the doubt back, has my own focus gone off skew? Yes he has been through so much that we are not aware of, only what he tells us through his music. The battles with the business side of things, the end of a very long dream of Mayte, the loss of a child.

All of this is none of our business to know only that which he chooses to share with us through his album releases. Will he find his way back to the path that was so clear, lit by the light shining in the distance that still calls and will he once again cross the line?
In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream
