A one-off Prince concert, or your partners birthday........... Which one would you attend?
Concert is a one-off, partners birthday is important, they aren't a fan, and think it's more important you attend, they have family and friends travelling to attend, but Prince is a one night only thing going on. What do you do? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think I'd be able to pull off going to the concert if I let her know far in advance so that solid plans aren't ruined if I miss out on any birthday celebration in the evening. I would have my own private celebration with her either before or soon after. NCC2012... your local Trekkie. =/\=

Sounds like a Flintstones episode - you have to figure out how to go to the concert - but make it look like you are at the party - or you could rush back and forth - lol - or have a look-a-like at the party.

Yeah, if your partner knows you they should know better than to even think you'll be at their party and like you said they'll have one next year, hopefully :knockonwood:

buy 'em a ticket as a present of course!! and tell them it's a special surprise where you're taking 'em.

If your partner knows you as well as they should then they would know not to even ask the question or even put you in the position of having to make a choice because basically there isn't one!! In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

Two seconds it would take for me to decide. concert! concert! concert! without a doubt.

The way some of you justify things, lol. I'd be with my girl, make her happy, and do what she wants; I wouldn't try to lay even a hint of a guilt trip on her, but I would save up and get ready for the next big Prince thing, even if it meant taking a little trip (hopefully with my girl who is still with me because I know how to make her happy).

OMG!! what a good Q. I have only ever been in this position once, it was when the 1st celebration was on in MPLS and my wifes birthday was in the middle of it!!. As we were in the UK I had to build a coast to coast US holiday into it! Ended up with the best of both worlds, ended up meeting Al Pacino in NYC but thats another story!. For the record my wife cried with emotion as we walked into the recording studios at PPark.

You're probably right. If your partner loves you he/she will forgive you... but would you ever forgive yourself for not going to the concert? LOL Cool question "How embarrasing to be human!"

Got to agree. Also, the fact that I'm only interested in aftershows now means I could probably do both. But if I had to chose, the real world comes first. Anyway, would be getting some goood lovin' for such a sacrifice.
