What about those four actII shows in Germany?
I`m not totally sure if one of these shows
beat 72.000 in attendence in London the same year,
but maybe someone in here has the information on that.
I remember it being 80.000 in Wegeberg, but that`s
only what i read in the press back then.

Hmm! Good Question.

If we ignore festivals, like Rio or Hong Kong...as a headline act on his own...?

Wembley Stadium 93 came it at about 72,900.

Syracuse 85 was 70,000.

Any others? I'm not sure about the size of venues on the Purple Rain tour in the US. Was Syracuse the biggest?

Prince would have topped then all with the planned Blenheim Palace shows, if they had not fallen through.

Prince did a few stadium shows on the Purple Rain tour - he could've done them in every market. The largest attended sinlge show on the Purple Rain tour was either at the Orange Bowl in Miami or the Superdome in New Orleans. The both have capacities of around 70-75,000.

As fas as the Carrier Dome in Syracuse is concerned:

It holds 51,000. So, I don't see how there could've been 70,000 people there?

I was at the "Rock over Germany" festival in Lüneburg and as far as I remember there were something like 110.000 ppl... an amazing show, by the way.
It started raining during Purple Rain, and the rain literally turned PURPLE...the light effects weren´t that great but OK, but the thing during Purple Rain was fantastic. Very, very passionate performance...
