Was Prince really admitted into a hospital in 1996?

According to Hahn's book he was even though I haven't seen an article written on his supposed hospital trip.

Is this true?

That would have never been kept on the down-low.

anything's possible, I guess.
But I'm sure we would've heard something about this before Hahn's book.

Wasnt P hooked on painkillers for a while? "My Little Pill" is a very odd song for someone to write out of the blue, and it didnt really have anything to do with the story line in "I'll Do Anything"

I read an interview with what was suppose to be his son's nanny about how she and Mayte found him passed out with like two empty wine bottles and some pills in the studio (I think) about a couple of days after his child's death (Boy Gregory). They took him to the hospital it said and he would have died except he had thrown up and some of the tablets came up...I'm not sure about the whole story..I think someone posted it on here..But try and look it up...It was really a sad story though.

But like i said, I'm not really sure but it did say that he went to the hospital..

I don't know if anybody is disputing him being admitted to a hospital at some point, it's not uncommon for people who have public careers to be in a hospital, everybody is mortal ya know. The dispute is that IF he was, the reason why. He may be able to keep some people from spilling everything, but I sincerely doubt an entire hospital full of people waiting to anonymously run their mouths for the highest magazine bidder could have been kept from doing so. Get real. Doctors of course are sworn to doctor/patient confidentiality agreements. But it's not just the doctors or nurses who deal patients in hospitals, or who work in hospitals. Actually, I think people (like Hahn) are trying to make more out of this than there is.

Yeah I heard he same to. The nanny sold their story to a UK tabloid newspaper which serialised it. I think I'm gonna find the press cuttings now...

no one really knows what he really does, I always thought he did not smoke, but I seen him smoking something at an afterparty in Cincinnati, 2000.

Perhaps I'm naive but I thought he had been quoted in "In Style" mag a couple of years back saying he had never touched drugs or alcohol in his entire life, prescription or otherwise???

Prince may have been admitted to a hospital in 1996,but I think it was just exhaustion.Remember, this was a stressful period for him.He was battling Warners and it clearly took it's toll on him.

Well, I hardly think that his fight with Warners was the most stressful thing he had going on at the time, y'know?

Maybe, he just went to the hospital, for a checkup, everybody goes to the doctor sometimes for a checkup, u know, he's human too.

And of course, people who saw him there, make their own story of it, just for making money. Never heard before prince was involved with drugs or alcohol, We would heard it before, isn't it?

That's my idea of the story.

Indeed - I remember hearing about it 2.

Painkillers and wine dont mix very well Im afraid sad

The thing is tho, dont take this out of context:

Prince and Mayte would have been totally devastated at that time after losing Boy - despite the image they were projecting 2 the outside world. So when I heard I was saddened, but not surprised. People cope with things in different ways - no matter WHO u are.

Prince isnt superhuman - what's so unbelievable about the guy going 2 hospital?

There's nothing wrong or weird if Prince went on a bender after losing the baby. Of course the whole episode is very sad, but it's not worth dredging in the hope of some juicy gossip.

It seams the only people to ever write this type of story are those "ex-employees", "ex-girlfriend", "ex-friend" or "old aquaintance". The best books on Prince are the Pier Nilson and John Duffy books. I don't think either of them knew him and none of them had any grudge with him. I still think we will only ever know the truth when he writes an autobiography or commisions a non-biased journalist to write a book on him, giving access to all current staff, friends and family.

But according 2 the book, this happened in April of 1996, 2 months after Mayte had gotten pregnant. He was having sharp chest pains, so he drank wine 2 dull the pain, and he supposedly was taking asprins 4 the hell of it, cause he heard they were good 4 the heart against heart disease and other problems. He had consumed a full bottle of wine, and with him being so petite and having a high metabolism (and by then he had become a full fledged vegetarian), he quickly became intoxicated and began vomiting. So it was the combination of the wine AND the chest pains that sent him 2 the hospital. Not any suicide attempt or anything of that nature...

Yeah cuz I usually drink a bottle of wine to fix my chest pains... lol

Agreed, that would make anyone sick when they're his size.
