Me too. Once I turned it up and let myself get carried away by it, I never came back.

Put me down, too. I've always loved this song. It may be my favorite tune from Emancipation.

An even better quote from the same song " Deeper than the ditch that bred your suffering, the one being dug right now by them all"
All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

THE LOVE WE MAKE

desperate is the day that is 2morrow
4 those who do not kno the time has come
2 whip the dogs that beg, sreal or borrow
from the table god set 4 his son

wicked is the witch that stands 4 nothing
all the while watchin 2 c u fall
deeper than the ditch that bred ur suffering
the one bein dug right now by them all

happy is the way 2 meet ur burdens
no matter how heavy or dark the day
pity on those with no hope 4 2morrow
its never as bad as it seems until we say

precious is the baby with a mother
that tells him that his saviour is coming soon
all that believe will cleanse and purify themselves
put down the needle ,put down the spoon x2

SACRED IS THE PRAYER THAT ASKS 4 NOTHING , oh
while seeking 2 give thanx 4 every breath we take,oh
blessed r we inside this prayer
4 in the new world,we will b there

the only lovethere is ,is the love we make
etc etc etc...

ALL THE LYRICS R GREAT !!!

I love it too. It's one of my favourite Prince's song. I love the Kat Disyon guitar work, the bass line, the strings, the drum programming...
Bue especially...

you know, his voice.

I like it alot too, one of the few religious songs whose lyrics I actually like. Unfortunatly, there ain't no savior coming anytime soon, and the smack reference comes completly out of nowhere. Still, that's a pretty damn small quibble.

I was writen for a fallen friend (from smack) thats why he says "put down the needle, put down the spoon"

Best song on Emancipation.

The line is important too. So many times, when we pray it's asking for something - help, forgiveness, direction, things, blessings. A prayer that asks for nothing, but instead gives thanks is something special indeed.
