With some of these threads popping up around here, you would think so. Come on people when we just realize as far as musicainship goes, Prince is the best we got and the best that's still living. You should know have that stuff that gets played on the radio is crap and it's rare that you here any good music. So why would the radio even dare Play any new Prince music on the radio ? They probably think it's 2 risek, because it's so real & different.

They wouldn't know the difference of real music if came and slapped them across the face, but then again you can't blame them, it's what the masses wants.

You know I don't care if Prince ever has a mainstream hit song or ever gets played on the radio again, I still dig his music, that's mainly the reason why I listen 2 his music so much, it bcuz one he's bad ass you know and 2 his music is set apart from everyone else's it can't even be catergorize. Unlike these other cats around here who's just in 4 cash, Prince doesn't have 2 proove himself anymore, because he done everything half these young cats only wish they could do.

Let's just face it !
Prince is a living legend of our time
When he's gone he will be missed !

Until then if you want 2 Prince on the radio , or see him in the mainstream of entertainment, you're just going 2 have 2 deal with the wannabe's, because that's the closes of Prince going back to mainstreamm u're gonna get .

I agree with your point. Unfortunately, many fans seem to need "validation" from the radio and mainstream in general before they will classify Prince's music as "great" or even just "good". I'd be willing to bet money that if tracks from the The Rainbow Children became popular and were being played on the radio all the time, some of the exact same people that have trashed the album would be singing it's praises. That's just the way some fans are.

Back in the old days, before the internet and mass communication, I would fall in love with each new Prince album in my own little world. It never really mattered to me whether or not any of those songs ever became popular or not, because I knew the songs were great regardless of whether or not they were played on the radio. To me, the songs were great even if there wasn't a single other person in the world who agreed with me.

But now, with the internet, and overly commercialized radio, it seems that some fans NEED to know from others whether or not a new Prince song or album is good or great to others before they decide whether it is good or great to themselves.

But, no matter what though, you're never going to get all Prince fans to agree on everything all the time. And the reason is because of Prince's work and his worldwide appeal. There's just too many fans with too many different tastes in music. The fascinating thing is that Prince CAN appeal to so many different people on so many different levels. Oftentimes, I think the bickering that we see amongst fans on the org is just a testament to the fact that Prince is so diverse.

To each his own, I guess.

i was in paris last year and i heard muse 2 the phaoraoh on the radio, in a book store. it gave me nice feeling specially because it wasnt 1 o the hits !

Many of the new "imps" on this site are just trying to get a rise out of people.

Many people forget that radio,Mtv,BET,&VH1 are controlled by the major music outlets and that these organizations want "their" artists played.Prince is not a part of this conspiracy so his music will not get on the radio or TV.

I still hope, that things like Kazaa or Napster lead to a happy nice musicland in which artists get credit for their quality.

It should be worth to buy an album, not just for a music loving fanatic, but for people who like to give up five or ten bugs for a little bit of quality entertainment.

which means that the product has to be perfect. songs have to be challenging but still fit as pop, bocklets should be more creative, give away more insides, like some of the old jazz stuff which always comes along with great booklets, a good web presentation, where people can find a place to chat and get info like prince.org. and after a year or so, there should always be a dvd with videos, interviews.

The Mass would love to see that and labels should know, i guess they've already figured out, that one-hit-bimbos invite to steal their tunes by using kazaa&co. i don't like to feel f***ed, because of an album that offers me 40 min with 3 songs i don't have to puke of.

As long as he appreciates his fans, i'm fine. but he should never forget, why he could afford something like paisley park.

Pop has given us a lot of crap the last couple of years, but it also gave us Prince and his ability to move on everytime he finished a record. that is not self-evident.

I don't think Pop is dead, but I think bad/cheap productions have won this time. prince and some other artists would fit perfectly to recapture the pop flag.



He is going to live forever, but a legend has to be seen as such. A little reminder for the mass wouldn't be wrong.
