I'd heard him before, but never paid much attention. What finally got me was the trailer for Purple Rain. The sheer energy and that crazy Linn drum beat of "Let's Go Crazy" just shot through me like an arrow!

it was my older sister. i must have been about 3 years old. i can remember watching purple rain and dancing around and acting like a broom was a guitar when 'let's go crazy' was playing. i kinda of lost touch, but then when i was about 13, i came back. that was when i first saw him in concert, and i was hooked even more. then to say thanks to my sister for getting me hooked on him, i took her to see him (she had never seen him before). I am 20 now.

Yup, it was 'I wish u heaven' that started me off too. I was a definate Prince hater before that. Out of the songs I'd heard before that I hated 'When Doves Cry', 'Purple Rain', 'Raspberry Beret', 'Kiss' and 'Glam Slam'. I'd kinda liked '1999', 'Let's Go Crazy', 'Girls & Boys' and 'Sign 'O' The Times', but there was something about 'I wish u heaven' that got me to buy Lovesexy, and I've been hooked ever since.

I've never gotten to like 'When doves cry' though.

I'm 29 now and I got into Prince around The Gold Experience "era". I heard I Hate U on the radio one day and the next time I was at the record store I bought that album. It's funny because my mom of all people bought me the Purple Rain cassette tape back in the 80's but I wasn't really trying to hear it. I was still into Too Short (rap).

Anyway, the thing that really cemented it for me is when I heard The Hits/B-sides. The B-sides in particular blew my mind. Realizing he had that many good songs made me wanna dig deeper and so I did.

I actually bought PR when it came out after seeing the movie, but it wasn't until I came across the maxi-single for Mountains that I really began investigating and collecting his music.

I'm in my early 30's like many other of Y'all.

My sister, listening to her records in 1992, especially Parade, ATWIAD & Diamonds & Pearls.

But more specifically the videos to Girls & Boys and America, I was completely in love with these two tracks at the time (I was 12 or 13).

I thank my brother for getting me into Prince's music. As early as 1983 he would play his music consistently and I got caught up in it & have been an avid fam since.

I was about 10 when PR came out, I really liked the song. One day my mum was washing the floor at home listening to the radio and PR came on. She said I really like that song what is it and who sings it. We then bought the PR LP and then everything we could get our hands on. We are form Australia and soon after getting into Prince I remember watching a concert he did in Detriot, it was amazing and we wished that one day we could experience something like that. Well that year was 1984. In 1992 he toured and we saw in. And then 11 years later in 2003 we got to see him again, totally amazing. We now wonder if that was the last time we got to see. We pray he comes again!!!
