Batdance.
I knew who he was & liked 'When Doves Cry' but 'Batdance' was some whole new shit. That's when he got me (I was 14). "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

I'm 25 & ever since I was born I've heard Prince. My mom is a superfan. She's been down since day one. Saw him in 81 & most of the tours after. So he's always been part of my family.

I heard the Soft & Wet single. It was funky but compared to everything else out at the time, it was sterile. I was hooked after picking up the self-titled LP. "With You" is probably one of the most beautiful songs ever.

Kiss.
I had a passing interest in him but back in 1986, Kiss really made me a fan. It didn't sound like anything else on the radio at the time. Really freaky vibe... So I bought Parade and then all the other earlier albums in this order: Parade Purple Rain Around The World In A Day Dirty Mind Controversy For You Prince 1999

5 years old during Xmas 1980 chilling with my older cousin and listening to Dirty Mind (which she bought with Xmas $$$) she told me some the lyrics I might not understand...she was right and got in trouble later on for singing 'Head'...my parents were like 'Where did you hear that'...my ass got whooped that night...
I am still a Prince fan...23 years later... Every minute of last night is on my face today....

The song "1999". Though it wasn't until the year 1999 that it hit me!. I'm a Miles Davis fan/collector and I read in his bio how much he loved Prince. So when there was a Prince video clip show on TV, I watched it mainly to see what Miles saw in him. When the clip for "1999" came on I was hooked! Never looked back either!!! So far you all seem to be fans since the mid/late-1980s,
Gett Off was the killer single that got me into Prince, lines like "lemme show you baby I'm a talented boy " , the flute parts in a funk song , the way the song went into a sexrap in the final half ,it all really hooked me , and then I saw the video on TV , the moves , the women Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

The first time I heard "When Doves Cry" on the radio--the opening electric guitar with the scream panning from right to left and the linn drum beat with that rimshot. I had never even heard of prince till about 1991, I was hmm maybe 15 and my friend played me a tape which included among other things - alphabet st,
and then diamonds and pearls came out and that was it, I was hooked then my brother's friend told me about Redeye Records and I spent so much money I ended up working there lol then I found bootlegs (haha sounds like THEN I FOUND JESUS) oh man i could go on and on and on Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I remember seeing the U Got the Look video air on MTV's top twenty back in 87, didn't like it at first, but it grew and grew on me. Well, i bought SOTT and that album slowly grew on me too, finally i went apeshit and bought anything Prince i could find... I starting listening to Prince again back in 2001 and i rebuilt my collection..nothing too fancy, i would like to get the rare and out of print stuff now.. Prince is like an obsession, u gotta have em all!!!
