Parade Double CD?

Question: What do you suppose that mysterious (or not-so-mysterious) second disc to Parade contained?

Oh, lots of stuff...more instrumental pieces, "An Honest Man", the tracks that wound up as b-sides, unedited versions of the songs we know from Parade, stuff that went on to "Dream Factory"...the list goes on.

Fascinating! A great album, but Kiss is the tune that saved it from obscurity. It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night was supposed to be in there somewhere. Thanks! I'm hoping to piece together as much music as I can from that era.

There are several songs that go with it and several that just sound good grouped with the Parade songs.

released:
Kiss extended
Mountains extended
Anotherloverholenyohead extended
Love Or Money
Alexa De Paris

intended for Parade:
Neon Telephone
Heaven
Others Here With Us
Little Girl Wendy's Parade
I Wonder U - alt.
All My Dreams
Old Friends 4 Sale

sounds good with it:
Prince's versions of High Fashion, Mutiny and Desire
Splash
Go
An Honest Man vocal and instrumental

All of those extended versions are tight. Alexa De Paris has to be my second favorite Prince song next to Something In The Water... I think... there's just so many music

"Sexual Suicide" also sounds good with it, altho you should
take care not to place it too closely to "Girls & Boys".

I've tried putting "Moviestar" on it, and that seems to
work quite well too. Put it before or after "Do U Lie?"
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I've always thought "Crucial" sounds good with the "Parade" tracks, though I may be a minority of one on this. It's like Alexa de Paris's giddy cousin.

Alex de Paris, has to be one of my altime fave Prince and the Revolution tracks. That cd could 've been a real classic if some of the others were put on it. Have to say that Anotherlover--- is so damn funky, especially the extended version.

Errr, I've never read anywhere that Parade was ever gonna be 2 LPs.

Are you confusing it with the bootleg/fan CD-R? (great covers BTW)

Huh?

... there NEVER was a 'second disc' to Parade.
It was ALWAYS intended as a single album.

I read once that the Warners turned down the idea of a double album for Parade. My memory does fail me from time to time, I admit, but I distinctly remember this because it left the question in my mind. Q: What are those missing tracks? It may have not made it out of the gate as a double album but it was P's intention.

It is mentioned in the All Music Guide's review of Parade that it was intended to be a double album.

I remember that too. They said if it had been a double album, it would easily rival Sign 'O' the Times.

Maybe you're confusing it with the whole Crystal Ball/Sign O' The Times thang.

We really need a FAQ on this, every week we have at least one thread about Crystal Ball/Dream Factory/Camille et all.
