just heard the bootleg of Prince and Stevie Wonder playing "maybe your baby" at Glam Slam. WOW.

yeah, what a great show that was. the version of "get wild" was so funky and the crowd reaction pure fun. i would kill for video footage of that show.

I was there. Prince asked Stevie to come out... then I was floored when he did. My little anecdote: When the band started playing "Maybe," Stevie just stood there for a minute. Prince leaned into his ear and whispered something. Then Stevie, if I recall, went into a typically Stevie-type rap about some social problem or something, then into the song. For those that have the boot, is this correct?

Anyway, years later I was having dinner with Mike Bland and some friends and I mentioned what a great gig that was. He told me that Prince thought Stevie had forgotten the words and leaned up to whisper the first line into his ear. Then Stevie returned with the "I know the words, motherfucker -- I wrote them" look. He just needed a moment to get his rap together. Gives me a chuckle.

I think I heard this on the radio here in Australia(JJJ) about 5 years ago, they had 3 hours of Prince and a guest brought in some boots and they played them. I will have to dig out a tape I made to listen if it's the same song, it was definitely Stevie.

The show was back in June '94 after the VH-1 Honors bash. I believe if my memory serves me right Stevie said that the public needs Prince (yes Stevie said the name "Prince"), now more than ever. But, I have to say that the guitar solo is breath-taking, Prince just rips into that guitar like I never heard before. Great stuff, get the boot if you can you won't be disapointed. He plays Interactive, Days of Wild, I Believe In U, Dark, I'll Take U There, Peach. TMBGITW, and abit of Supersition. Priceless!!!
