Song Of The Day - Others Here With Us Someone brought up this song on the discussion about '3 Chains Of Gold'.
Isn't it the darkest thing he's ever done. First time I heard it, I was stunned. It still un-nerves me. What are your thoughts? It's brilliant. I fell in love with it back in 1988 when
it hitched a ride with me on a foggy night. It sat next to me for hours as we murmured an ancient curriculum and were accompanied by ghost horses. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Scary and with some sadly prophetic lyrics I recall, check out the 3rd verse and substitute month for day
Others Here With Us When I'm alone, my mind takes a drive /Through chocolate religion and spirits alive / All I was brought up in this world 2 know /Is lost when a demon swallows them whole There's others here with us /There's others here with us, I know It's strange how your mind works when Love is in power /One learns 2 care and appreciate a flower / What makes others want 2 change your mind? /All the things I've seen, life is so sublime CHORUS 7-month-old baby died in her sleep /The parents went crazy and cried 4 a week / They swore they heard her laugh in the crib by the wall /They're convinced she's with us if she's anything at all CHORUS Bobby had an uncle who took a string /And wrapped his neck around it, a pitiful thing / If only we can turn back the hands of time /Except there's others here with us, life is sublime / There's others here with us /There's others here with us, I know (I know) /All the things I've seen {x2} CHORUS from my Best Bootlegs lyrics website [This message was edited Mon Oct 20 11:37:05 PDT 2003 by moonshine] Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

I'm hardcore into her right now too and I haven't listened this intensely since '99. I'm making a b-sides compilation right now. I'm slowly getting it just how I want it. I've found a lot of great official remixes that I didn't know about like "Putting The Damage On", "Father Lucifer" and "Horses". Boys For Pele is my album!

Chilling lyric. I have a severe case of goosebumps as I type this. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Although "Choirgirl" just ran off with my heart from the first moment she stepped into my room. She's out of this world. I consider it a masterpiece, sometimes I even catch myself thinking [oh blasphemy] that it's better than any Prince album I own... and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The screaming and crying in that song are enough to push me over the edge.

I loved her first 3 all the way through, but that one just didn't hit me right. Strangely, I took to 'Venus' right away. But you urged me a few times to give it another chance and lately I have. I must say that I was definitely wrong and now I love it fully. The b-sides from Choirgirl are great too! I just had a problem with almost all my alternative favorite's albums that year for some reason. But now I like them all. Thanks for making me rethink my opinion.

Garden back in 1998 or 1999. Luckily, this unreleased demo is in very good condition so it matters very little that Roadhouse Garden was never released. Besides, chances are it would have been re-recorded with different lyrics and a brand new arrangement, I'm sure . I still wonder what the guy was thinking of. Love the song, it should be released in a 7 cd box together with other unreased goodies from that time. And maybe call it "The Bitter Frustration Stops Here" "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan

Everyone should check out Choirgirl at least once. I can't even pick one fav song form it, that's how cool it is. I love those b-sides as well. "Never Seen Blue" and also "Purple People/Christmas In Space" are incredible trax... Or what about "Merman"? It wasn't a b-side for Choirgirl but it was recorded around that time. I always giggle like a girl when I picture Bobby's contortonist uncle wrapping his neck around that piece of string.
Guy should have been in the circus. Maybe that happy carefree life would have saved him from suicide. Just my on the matter.

It makes sense. I've read that spending time near the water was what helped her to get over her miscarraige and start writing again.

"Pandora's Aquarium" was the first song she wrote for that album and the rest just "followed" and all "took up rooms" as she described it. I love her, that silly cook nutcase. She's got talent, and that's scarce these days. Have you also got the "Scarlet" b-side "Seaside"? That kind of reminds me of earlier Tori again. Nice vocals. Oh, and check out the "Muhammed My Friend" remix, I don't know what it's called but it's rather good. And "Siren", and "Carnival" from the Mission Impossible soundtrack! Nearly forgot "Sugar" there, wow wow wow. Perhaps we should start a thread about Tori sometime and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Not many can claim that. And her discography is so colorful and solid. I really don't think she's made any major mistakes. I love her b-sides. My favorites are probably "Upside Down", "Sister Janet" and "Flying Dutchman". I need to get familiar with the more recent ones. There have been a few Tori threads lately. Here's one. I'll dig up the other one in a bit. http://www.prince.org/msg/8/65396

Others is definitely as song for Halloween. It's scary, but enticing.
But on a cold lonely night, when there's just you in the dark, don't play this song. I swear you understand exactly where he's coming from. Anyone know the story behind this one. I don't have DMSR or any other reference material at hand right now. **************************************************

It might be the evilest thing I've ever heard. if he'd have released that back in the mid-80's he'd have had a Judas Priest type lawsuit pulled on him everytime some silly tit with a prince poster on their wall killed themselves. It's like a Prince-type ouija board that song.
