Here is something really cool. Mr. Warren Haynes of " Gov't Mule/ Allman Brothers Band" has released a two cd/ 3 and a half hour concert dvd set entitled," The Deepest End."
This set sells for roughly $22.00 approx. and it is a live collection of tunes performed in New Orlean's back on May 3rd 2003 as a tribute to the Gov't Mule Bassist Mr. Allan Woody whom passed away a few years back. There are close to a dozen different bass players that perform live at this 5 hour and a half hour mega concert bash!! One of the tunes that Gov't Mule performed was a song called," Beautifully Broken," which actually started out with Prince's " When Dove's Cry," and then segues into "Beautifully Broken," then segued again into "When Dove's Cry." It was amazing and really could open up doors to Prince on how to re-do this classic gem!!
The entire 5 and a half hour event was recorded and released spanning two cd's and a full 3 hour and 5 minute concert dvd as well as a special full 30 minute documentary giving some amazing insight ot his event!! This was just incredible and should be heard by anyonw who likes great music!!
Here is a small bit of cool news...
As the dvd credits were rolling at the end of the actual concert, the set list flew up onto the screen I took notice as the the tune
" When Dove's Cry," was listed as Controvery Music/Universal Music Publishing Group.
So It gives me great pleasure to say that it looks like Prince's catalogue was sold by Warner Brothers directly to Universal Music!!
