Pious Prince?

Thanks to all the Jehovah's Witnesses e-mailers who explained why Prince visited a house in Eden Prairie, then got in an automobile and drove off. The speculation is that he was visiting the only address on that block that had been missed earlier by followers. Rolling Stone, People, BBC London and NPR were among those, to my amazement, interested in this column item.

"Well, looking at your picture, I'm going 'Cute'," said a caller. "This is in reference to the article (about) Prince being a Witness, going to people's door. I'm having a hard time with it. Are you making jest of Prince or God? Please remember that Prince is just the messenger trying to give out information along with Mr. [Larry] Graham. They are Jehovah's Witnesses, and this is what they are supposed to do. Apparently you thought it was funny or your tried to inject some humor in it. I don't get it, but you should get this: God does not like ugly, and he's not too crazy about cute either. Check yourself. My name is Greg. Call me at your convenience. I'm sure you want to ask some more questions." No, Greg, I think I've gotten quite enough of you. It is, however, my understanding that God loves everybody: the ugly, the fat, the wise guy, the cute.

"What is the story with the unfinished round building adjacent to Paisley Park? Budget issues? Legal issues? It has been sitting unfinished for over a year and is somewhat of an eyesore compared to the rest of the property," writes Tim S. Word is that the round building was to be a nightclub. Maybe Prince will turn it into a place of worship. (The preceding sentence was written in jest, expressly for Greg.)
