I KNOW IT'S BEEN SAID B4 BUT...

i think it's damn wicked that ol Princey boy who has been without a major label to support him for nearly three years and to be without a conventional record contract since 1996 and who hasn't had a single out since 99 and who has not made a video since then as well, can still play to sell out crowds in 12,000 seater venues.
i think that deserves a round of applause.

Tell it to the concert attendees. If they don't applause then they don't deserve to check out the wickedness.

Agreed, it's great. I think he's probably benefitted due to the lack of mainstream profile. 98% of the attendees will think his last album was Gold, his last single was TMBGITW, and won't realise his recent Jazzy direction.

Prince is a megastar. I think the blistering support he's recieving in OZ is paying due's to this, as opposed to anything he's done in the last 5 years. IMO

yawn This could be said of all the "Golden Oldies" supergroups. What was the last "Who" cd you bought but they sold out everywhere.

Besides Prince couldn't come close to selling out 12,000 seat arenas in the US or Canada. Very few of the shows not in major cities actually sold out on the ONA tour and that was in 3,000 seat venues.

The Who are friggin disgusting in their display of greed since 1982..and folks whine about Prince and his greed antics rolleyes

however yeah..Prince doesnt have the cache to sell out 13,000 in U.S...he never did except for Purple Rain and leftover Lovesexy era etc...he never was that type of an artist in my opinion. Putting him up against a 60's institution like The Who is like apples and peanuts

They undertake "Farewell Tours" every 5 freakin years, and the group has been disbanded as a working, creative unit since 1982. If Prince had the gumption to collaborate with WB on some remasters to get some renewed interest in his back catalog some things would be different for him too. I mean, how many recording artists that get constant airplay with their heyday music don't benefit from the remaster/reissue treatment? Even a dead artist's estate benefits.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

sorry if i confuse your point, i am a fan of the who i bought live at leeds deluxe edition 2 months ago but i wouldnt dream of going to see em in concert cos they are over the hill in my opinion !

what would the fans give for

purple rain - the deluxe edition
parade - the deluxe edition
sott - the deluxe edition
atwiad - the deluxe edition

etc,etc,etc.

in the who's case the deluxe edition was the whole tommy rock opera live !!!

this would be the equivalent of buying say .. parade with a bonus disc of parade live 86 birhday gig thrown in 4 good measure

i saw the who around 1980 before thankfully.. they went over the hill.

so i would buy the cd not the concert ticket!!!
