LATE NIGHT AFTERSHOW FROM 97-98 OMG, I was just listening to one of these tunes, and talk about ruining an aftershow with Doug E (tone deaf) Fresh.
What was Prince thinking with this guy. He may be great in his own way of rappinp, but come on. Prince let this guy take over most of the aftershow and ruin it with his suck-ass rapping and dull tone voice. Man, just when you were hoping it was gonna get better with a cool song, then here comes Doug again and ruins it. What a poor waste of money for the people that paid to see that. "

I was at the Townshend aftershow in january 98 i think?Awesome jam of 18 & over & a traditional blues version of The Ride were the highlights for me. What I found interesting is on the cover it lists the show as The Townshend in Oakland which is false. The main show was in Oaktown & the aftershow was in SF. Prince kept calling out "Oaktown" during the performance which leads me to believe he actually thought he was still in the east bay, he really does live in his own world... | |

I'm not a huge hip hop fan (although there are some songs that I really enjoy) so my opinion is surely biased. And I do believe that the period during which Prince employed for his act Doug E. Fresh was one of his worst. I can't even bring myself to watch the entire New York City show from 1998. For the same reason I always skip the Doug E. Fresh part in the Beautiful Strange video (the concert from London of the same year).
To make the matter worse, it's also the year in which Larry Graham was particularly prominent. ______________

I even skipped on buying tickets to the concert when it came to Detroit because I didn't want to see the side acts of Chaka , Larry and anyone else he might bring up on stage that he thought he could help their career out. "
