Brother wants to (needs to) get paid. Got to maintain a lifestyle and business. Nobody has his back. As an independant legend he's on the highwire without a net. Are u going to save him if he falls? Why u act like you're on crack and he's the dealer? The pusherman rasied the price and u bitch. I just shrug my shoulders and groove to N.E.W.S. If he charges 2 dollars are 2 million, i still groove. My money's in my pocket and the bank. The addicts are mad because their craving is so strong. And they are desperate for the fix. He's not a God and he don't belong to u. He's just an incredibly gifted musician with a mixed up mind just like any other true genius. Pay if u want to meet the genius, life is short. Probably the memory of the meeting will be with u till the grave, money comes and goes. In the end its your CHOICE!!! Stop the sceaming crack fiends.
well said, tricky, my money is staying in my pocket and bank account as well.ppl would have to be NUTS, to pay that much freakin money to meet and musician.

it seems you are missing the point of most people. we've all made our opinions known as to whether it is worth it or not. that is a personal decision which can neither be right or wrong. the issue most are addressing is Prince's hypocrisy. he has stated time and time again that "money and art don't mix" yet he is doing a damn fine job of mixing it. What does art have to do with meeting anybody? do you consider prince's work to be art? so then, do you consider prince to be an artist? well, in regards to warner bros., he considered them to be parasites and moneyminders because they were taking money from him simpky by being his record company. well, prince is now taking money from his fans simply for being prince. simply for saying hi. there seems to be a buttload of contradiction there. unfortunately, many in his cult just can't see it... You said he said money and art don't mix. My question about what art has to do with meeting someone hasn't been answered. Unfortunately many who blame Prince for all the world's evil can't see that.

This is behavior better suited for the "old Prince". If he's gonna go back to arrogant ways, maybe he'll drop some funk/rock on us again?

Jus' wonderin. . . nah, i just don't dig the idea of making money off of people due to an iconic image, even if its for charitable purposes. he's a wealthy man, if he wants to give to a charity, take it outta yer own pocket and do it anonymously...real charity goes unnoticed by the public. Soo, you don't dig Sheila's "meet and greet" either, then?

right on Tricky!!!
and madhouse: hardcore, kiss-ass fans just won't get it. NuPwr: Yes, I'd dig the concept betta if it was tied in2 a charity. Man, even Sting's upcoming Hammerstein gig in NY in October has a VIP meet and greet - $300, but it goes to the 'Save The Music' charity.

Soo, you don't dig Sheila's "meet and greet" either, then? i do think it is more tasteful. i also think it is better to use your fame for good reasons, like sheila is doing. i certainly think its a nice thought. i just have some reservations about tying in iconic imagery to raise money. i know, it sounds silly or stupid, but something about it doesn't sit well with me. but, i could justify sheila's thing much easier than prince's self indulgences.

THANX FOR THE PROPS RED (and the others). I was thinking that Tricky99 and I were standing here alone, but it seems the tide is turning.
Sure I'd love to have the money go to charity, but doesn't Prince already give a great deal to charity ("we're against hungry children..."), so odds are this is going to filter back into charity somewhere along the way. I can't fault him if he wants to give it to JWS, like GYPSYFIRE, but if that's where he wants to put his money, then more power to him. If I could make a Brinks truck of money by meeting and greeting, damn right I'd do it! God Bless America! i think like most things prince things will be clearer after the event. sadly for him he gets picked apart constantly before anything has actually happened!
personally i think its more hypocritical of someone like him to do a meet and greet than say aerosmith/kiss, but id still love to know why hes doing it, it just seems odd, hes an intelligent guy, surely he can spot the hypocrisy? if it is off to charity, then he should let it be known, not cos it would make him look good, but it would stop him looking bad!

thats the way i think it should be spontanious and free ! imagine going to work on a monday morning and saying to your friends "i met prince at the weekend" their response i'm sure would be "great where did you meet him ?" "oh i payed 900 bucks to say hello at a gig" NO CREDABILITY IN THIS AT ALL FOR PRINCE OR THE FANS ! Again, with all due respect to Blue Nile. Please can we be honest and acknowledge that they do not have the same level of celebrity as Prince (regardless of who is responsible for it). ...but i actually believe that the level of celebrity he has is not very large outside of his hardcore fan base. i too have been in situations where the man was in a room and nobody really friggin' cared- but then i believe that was because people weren't necessarily there to see "him" rather than be at a hip social gathering- and that was in the mid 90's already. since then, i've had the chance to meet performers who have sold wAAAy millions more "units" than the P-man has pushed in years, and in spite of their level of celebrity, they will stop to chat with fans or sign an autograph. and i'm not talking about this happening in small towns where people may have a limited exposure to music, i'm talking larger like L.A. and Miami. maybe it's just been my experience, but, i honestly don't see people freaking out so badly over this man outside of MPLS, or prince-related events these days, and i travel ALOT. oddly enough, though i don't agree with the man charging people 900 bucks for a meet & greet ( i met him at his club in miami for FREE years ago, and though it was nice it certainly was not worth the cost of rent, 2 car notes, or a vacation to paris that he wants to charge now)- i could see (playing devil's advocate against myself from a business person's point of view) if he wanted to charge something more reasonable like $100 for club members...something where he could still make his dough without just ROBBING them.i could see 900 if it were for a charitable cause (like Antonio B. & Melanie G.charging 10Gs a ticket for a private dinner party in their home to benefit one of my favorite causes, the Sebara Foundation), but otherwise- i just see the 900 as going way overboard and practically an insult to his fans' intelligence

I feel ya on this part. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity though, so I mean, if you get to talk to his ass, fuck it. The guy needs to get with a major record label and stop fuckin his fans for money. It is truly sad that thats how Prince has to make his money. Oh well, I'd say do a PAY PER DOWNLOAD and put up outtakes on his site. That'll make him money.
