I remember seeing a "Charade" vinyl years ago... I know it's outtakes from Parade... but does anyone know what's really on it? Are the songs very different from the released Parade album?

And what is the song "Litle Girl Wendy's Parade?" I think that it was one of the tracks on "Charade". Is it just the same song as "Christopher Tracy's Parade" with different lyrics?

It never really made sense to me when he said that during the break in "Kiss".

Charade was one of the earliest bootlegs. Here's the tracklist;

It was taken from as early configuration of Parade. Some of the
song titles are not quite accurate, track 1 is actually just called
'Wendy's Parade', track 5 is 'Others Here With Us' and track 9
should just be called 'All My Dreams'. Most of the tracks do
have minor differences to the released versions.

Little Girl Wendy's Parade is virtually the same as Christopher
Tracy's Parade apart from some of the lyrics, and some of the
instrumentation is incomplete.

New Position is the same (the mix may be very slightly different,
though it's difficult to tell)

I Wonder U is missing all the horn and guitar parts, and features
Prince's vocal mixed equally with Wendy & Lisa's.

Under The Cherry Moon is the same apart from a very slightly
different reverb on the snare drum (and again, has some very
minor discrepancies in the mix)

Others Here With Us is a previously unreleased track. It's quite
a dark, spooky track with Prince reciting the lyrics over a
backing of drums and weird sound effects.

Life Can Be So Nice is pretty much identical to the released version.

Sometimes It Snows In April also sounds identical to the one
on Parade (though again, it may contain minor differences in
the mix).

Old Friends 4 Sale is somewhat different to the version that
appeared on The Vault. The lyrics are different and it's missing
all the Clare Fischer orchestra parts.

All My Dreams is another unreleased track. It's a great cinematic
pop song, with Prince's vocals treated to make them sound
like they were recorded with an old 20's mic. In fact the song
itself has a certain 20's feel to it. It also features a section with
Prince's vocals slowed down to 'Bob George' speed. The track
heavily features Wendy & Lisa too.

Girls & Boys is the same as the released version, apart from the
intro which features a snippet of studio chat and a drumstick
count-in. The ending also features some extra drum beats to
finish the song properly (as it doesn't segue into Life Can Be So
Nice)

Love Or Money is a different early version which features some
chicken grease guitar missing from the released version, and
Prince's normal voice (rather than the speeded up vocals on
the Kiss b-side) It sounds pretty much played live in the studio.

Heaven is another unreleased track. It features the classic
Revolution Linn drum sound with little more than a bass and
carnival-like organ sound over the top, with Prince's vocals.

The version of "heaven" on this release is incomplete.I had the vinyl and I remember it saying that it was a fan club release.I thought that I was missing out on so many unreleased albums and songs because I didn't know about the fan club. That's when I discovered that 1999 info phone that I used to call all the time for info.Lol.The guy would read all the news on a voicemail!!I was addicted to that number!

i remember that i was looking for this bootleg when there were still bootlegs around where i lived.

HEAVEN is a great little ditty.

this was the 1st really good quality bootleg not perfect but good for a boot at that time. ive got it somewhere its vinyl and its very good. great version /my fave version of old friends 4 sale.i remember finding it at a record fair and getting home thinking wow the vaults must be filled with songs like old friends.

you're supposed to play the record "double speed to hear a message fit for a king" on "All My Dreams"...

ya'll know that right? It's just a way to make the prince slow voice more intelligible.

put the record up to 45rpm.
