Just pulled this one out of the closet - WHOO come on man, Good God! What a jam.

If you can't get enough of Prince/Sheila E. jams then I strongly recommend 'Girls & Boys/Holly Rock' from 7Th Street Entry, Minneapolis, October '86.

It's a slap-bass masterclass.

I love the way Sheila just loses her mind near the end of this song...

"Good Gawd!! I can't go to the club without my jewels...Lawd,I'm trying to tell you!!...bring me the black one...THE BLACK ONE!!!...man,come on,GOOD GAWD!!"

I think she's serious about this smile

"Toy Box" really should have been the first single from Sheila's 'Romance 1600' album. It's a sexy, funky, exciting song that would have been a smash.

I always loved this song, especially the live version on the Romance 1600 video.

That was a cool observation that her persona is a female "Morris Day", although apparently Morris' gigolo persona is really a character Prince used to do also.

I doubtthe public would have "gotten" that whole thing at the end though. I also think it is totally NOT Sheila's real personality but it was like a funny joke for us fans.

What instrumental version? Was it a single b side? Or a boot?

It's an outtake and it's an unfinished instrumental version.
