WOW! I am finally listening 2 The Avenue! 
whatta show! (thanx 2 the orger who shall remain nameless) damn imagine being in that crowd at 1st Avenue when P & the rev belted out this shit! i have a question about 'PurpleRain' ...parts r clearly in the album version which would later be released on the PR album. so was this per4mance edited for the album? the part where he sing "i dont want your money no" instead of "i dont wanna be your weekend lover no" ... was the latter line overdubbed for the album version? if someone could fill me in on this,that would b great. also which other songs on the PR album used these actual recordings? (with some editing & overdubbing) Hey Josh... Glad u r finally hearing this great show! I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm a Star and Purple Rain all come from this show (with heavy overdubbing of course). PR was most definatley edited for the album, lyrics added and removed and the guitar solo cut down...but it's still great to hear. I think my sisters went to this concert... It was either this or some other show that appeared in the Purple Rain film. Everyday I curse their names for not bringing me with them (Granted, I was months away from being born, but they should've known, goddammit.) ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

only portions of the audio of this gig appeared on the soundtrack. the video wasnt used 4 the film. scenes in the film were done specifically for the movie. www.riotcitywrestling.com

All I've heard from this particular perfomance is the extended Purple Rain, and I must say the extra long solo at the beginning is most excellent. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

There were no vocal overdubs for the album verion of PR, just edits. The "I don't want your money..." line was edited, the other verse is in the complete version as well. | |
