Baby Cries(Ah-Ya) Did Prince ha any involvment in that song? If so, then Prince wrote the MOST suitable song 4 Jill Jones. Its a shame that it ended as only a damn b-side. It shoulda beed the lead single instead of Mia Bocca(or G-Spot).

Prince had no involvement in the recording of this B-side. Then again, if you check Jill's album liner notes she gets credited with writing songs like 'Baby, You're A Trip' which we now know to be Prince compositions, so it's probably a question of rolling the die. . It makes me wonder a lil' All these Prince-penned songs weren't suitable 4 her(except that song). She doesn't sound like Prince in it and she doesn't sound forced & controled unlike the rest of the LP. Jill shoulda made her own effort by her damn-self, girlfriend is bad. I dig that gem alot! Whenever I hear it, I think of TLC's T-Boz!

Despite what others might say about her occasional yelping style, Jill's definitely no slouch in the vocal-delivery department. On the evidence of the shorter Prince demo-version, he ad-libbing at the very end of the track is likely all her own work. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Her voice is a tie between Dionne Warwick & some rocky chic. The bottom line is she's bad indeed, its just these materials aren't fit 2 her. Sometimes she sounds like either's she holding back too much or trying hard too much lol you feel me? Thats the most fucked up thang when it comes 2 P and his protege artists, he control them too damn much which is why their effort is not that impressive.

As an independent recording artist I think Jill is now long past that particular hurdle. She has always struck me as being a woman of character, nothing in her demeanour even as far back as '86 has ever indicated to me that she was manipulated by Prince to the extent that she would be unable to display her own identity. Moreover, Jill can actually sing. The same cannot be said for far too many Prince protegees that have come and gone. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. For the record, I still enjoy Jill's debut album.
I consider it to be amongst the most worthwhile releases from the Paisley Park label, ranking alongside Mavis Staples's 'Time Waits For No One', which in my opinion has always been something of an overlooked classic. . Speaking of which, I'm supriced that sista Mavis rarely get any mention about her efforts in Paisly Park. I wonder why!

Which should in no way detract from Mavis' considerable vocal talents and charisma, despite her age.

Prince did not write "Baby Cries (Ay-ya)". I think Jill did with David Z or someone. But I recall having read that Prince did some overdubbing on it.
Anyways, it's definitely Jill's own lyric. It's about Prince. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!
