And how excited we were 2 get them!
We're kinda spoilt with the quality of boots 2day. We used 2 be satisfied with something that sounded as though it was recorded through a pair of soiled underpants at the bottom of a septic tank. If Chocolate Box was released 2day it would be roundly panned!!!

I remember finding Livesexy in a little stall at a market. Ik was really surprised it had been released as audio and decided as I hadn't any money on me to go to the record store the next day to get it. sad I still wish I'd bought it then. So my first introduction to boots was through a major disappointment. But then, excitement and disappointment are essential to what boots are all about, wouldn't you agree?

Life like a box of chocolates, etc...

Only, 'Chocolate Box' came first...

Funny enough, but I haven't come across a Prince boot in ten years, whether in a market, the back of the 'alternative' shop or on the Internet. I haven't a clue where to find them. (not that I mind, I've got plenty of music to listen to smile
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

Me either - and mindful of the rules of the org, I would not like to know anywhere in London where I could buy such things these days

If you know where I can not buy them, Orgnote me!

Ahhh, the days of listening to The Black Album on a badly-taped cassette, crackles and all!

We are spolied for choice nowadays, and that's the way I like it!So much music, so many concerts, not enough ££££££

I used to crack up at the way they misspelled the songs,or came up with incorrect song titles.I have one boot from the late 80s where the song "Data Bank" is listed as "Pretty Face"...lol...

Actually, I prefer this badly-taped version.
This is the Black Album I've known and loved for years.
When I listened to a perfect copy I didn't like it at all...

I still play that old tape... for the better experience!

unremarkable

Please add me to the list of people who are totally disinterested in receiving an orgnote with details of where Prince bootlegs can be found. I'd particularly frown upon anyone who saw fit to orgnote me with UK-specific details...

well, boots have never been cheap here. In 1988 I forked out about 40$ for the double lp Pop Life (london 1986) and in the following years I always paid a vinyl boot not less than 15$...
cheers
Alex

"Moonbeam Levels" as "A Better Place To Die," for example...I also have one with "Wasn't My Faith" - which I think is supposed to be "What Did I Do?" (right?)

You're a veritable fountain of knowledge.

Other examples of this are "Funny U Should Call" (in place of 'If I Love U 2Night'), "U Call Me" ('No Call U'), "Welcome 2 The Ratrace" ('In A Large Room With No Light') and "Divinity" ('Lust U Always [instrumental version]').

Yep! I used to pay good money for those. They used to sell them under the counter of my local "alternate" record store alongside the bongs and poppers! Nearly all of their illicit tapes were Prince-related. Really happy days!

There's stuff out there if you know where to look

LOL... the song "Crystal Ball" is listed as "Expert Lover" on some of my late-80s boots.

Nikster

My CD copy of Charade has 'Romero and Friends' printed on the cd as the title of the album. I always thought that was odd.
