laurianne i was reading the liner notes to diamonds and pearls, and prince mentions someone named laurianne. anyone have any idea who this is?
i remember in '96 between chaos and disorder and emancipation, i read a tracklist for a "new" album posted in the uptown news section that supposedly had a track called laurianne. the album was untitled, and i always assumed it was a fake. it had tracks like pain, when the lights go down, people without, strange thing happened in puerto rico. anyone else remember this? any info on this track, laurianne, or the person>? If I'm not mistaking, I think laurianne was either Diamond or Pearl, the dancers.

Laurianne is not a fake . Tracked by Prince , Sonny and Michael B on january 2nd 1993.
The songs exist in 2 versions , 1 being the original recording described as "a guitar rave-up" by Bland. The other was constructed after making a new master tape , on wich Prince scrapped everything except 4 Bland's drum track b4 adding new instrumentation.

Those January 2nd sessions were all "Power Trio" numbers, bass, drums and guitar. "Dolphin" was also like this originally...stripped down and raw. "Laurianne" is the sister song to "Zannalee".
