Purple Rain (1984) - 9 mistakes

Prince concentrates on the chalk mark of his father's suicide attempt in the basement just before he flips out. Funny, but I thought they only made chalk outlines for people who actually died.

When Appolonia originally tries to get into the club, the door slams on her foot. When she opens the door and sneaks in later, the door slowly closes behind her.

Apollonia jumps into the lake. She is soaking wet, naturally. However, soon after, she's riding on the back of Prince's motorcycle and her hair is completely dry.

During the "Lake Minnetonka" scene, Prince's motorcycle tire automagically changes from knobby to street and back.

When Apollonia fills out the form at the club, you can see when she's holding it in her hand after she's done that she wrote "singing and dancing" on it. Later, when Prince looks at it on the wall, that particular line isn't filled out.

While enroute to the 'Lake Minnetonka' scene, Prince, or his stunt double, is seen from the helicopter cam as wearing the purple coat. As the truck cams show Prince and Apollonia on the bike, he's wearing the black coat. This is best seen after Prince passes the horses. (Time visible to members)

When Morris and Appolonia are in the car in front of the club, you can hear them talking, but when Morris says something to Jerome, Morris' lips move but you can't hear him.

When Prince arrives at First-Avenue, the box office area is well-lit. After Apollonia checks into the Huntington Hotel, she looks down at the venue and it's dark. When Morris arrives, it's bright again. (Time visible to members)

Prince comes back inside First Avenue backstage after singing "Purple Rain" and gives Appolonia a kiss. Moments later she's placed in the middle of the crowd.

all i remember from that movie is Prince kissing Apps like damn piece of meat.
it's as if they had fake lips made of concrete and they could'nt move them.

I gotta admit, I've seen it SOME times, too...at least 12 when it first came out and during 3 or 4 of those, I took still photos of the screen with my 35mm camera and no flash. I have most scenes in the movie in my own little collection for posterity.

when you have to sit and analyze the movie to me you are taking away something ..just enjoy the movie or should i say classic

yeah, i've noticed this!!! see now, this is one of the many reasons why there should be a director's cut version of pr--deleted scenes and/or alternate dialogue.

Okay - some o that stuff is just picky nonsense. Appolonia OBVIOUSLY ran from backstage to back out front to catch the show, the dry hair was OBVIOUSLY done so she could look all fly on the back of the motorcycle - "artistic license" - just like the outline etc.

Now, the mouth talking and saying nothing, that was Prince's message to peeps like that; "I see your mouth moving but you ain't saying nothing".

OR, MAYBE IT WAS A BAD OVERDUB, LIKE IN HALF OF THE MOVIE.

By the way, it IS a movie, right? SO, the comment about the chalk outline and the hanging prince never happening, let's step back a moment. NONE of this happened.

It's a movie.

...well what do you expect from a low budget movie where the most experienced actor/actress is Apples?

I think that's because after she jumped in the lake she got sick, so by the time she was feeling better her hair had dried
