great song but too long. Sometimes Prince doesn't know how to end a groove.

I STILL love it, I don't mind 20 minutes off a Prince song, nope!

The keyboard solo is amazing, every solo is awesome!

I think it was meant to be something different, who would do that, create a 20 version of a song.

Its in the spirit of the Around the WOrld in a Day album, all psychadelically long.

I was floored at the time, after listening to the short one and then the long one thinking, man, imagine that, it's longer!

Imagine all his fading out songs being that long! You know that Electric Chair is longer, what, 10 minutes, and what about Strange Relationship!

The reason I don't get bored after 15 minutes is because of what the man does with a basic beat and a guitar.

It's more than art (to me).

Not be naive... but are you guys referring to the live version that was shown as a video around the time he was filming UTCM and Around the World was still on the charts?

I remember it being a surprise concert he did for the crew of UTCM and MTV showed it a few times.

Or is this some other version??

It's briljant as a 12".

It isn't on any album, so it didn't just come out of your speakers accidentally.
You only play this briljant 12" if you really feel like it ... and that is how it's meant to be.

This live version is the best there is.
It's my favourite video-clip ... too bad is hasn't been on television that much.

ahhh ok thanks for clearing that up that it's the 12".

Has the video version I mentioned been available anywhere? I remember seeing it on MTV at the time.

Also, FYI... when I saw the purple rain tour in 85 in Long Island... he did a surprise THIRD encore with the lights up... and it was America!!! That was my first time hearing the song!!!

I've seen that thing and have been tempted. It just doesn't seem legit. Is the sound quality on America good? As in snap, krackle & pop free?

It sounds good to me nod
In http://www.fonkadelica.co...chives.htm there's an interview to the guy who did this and the other compilations in the BLACK ARCHIVES series.
It's in French but somehow I quite understand it. I also ordered the CD from www.fnac.fr and received it this week.

And I never studied French! confuse
