I just watched the disc and it wasn't THAT bad. It wasn't the best I've ever seen but I wouldn't call it unacceptable.

Why would he spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a disc that's going to get limited release to club members, a few websites and maybe a few retail outlets? If he did, he wouldn't make a dime, and that's what it's about, mostly.
He'll probably make a grip considering he didn't have to spend a lot of money on production.

I was satisfied with the DVD, and don't think it was a waste of money.

P.S.
N.E.W.S. and Expectation are good shit!!

If it was a really well put-together DVD packed FULL of great material, it might get him quite a lot of attention from the critics and DVD fans alike. He'd make FAR more money this way!

Doubtful. Prince knows he's off the radar, so why waste a bunch of money trying to impress people that aren't going to buy your shit anyway?

Perhaps...But there's a HUGE population of DVD Geeks who will buy anything and everything if it's packaged nicely and looks/sounds good. He could at least tap that market! wink

You guys have seen Brain Candy, right? Well, I think all those sadass NPGMC positivity motherfuckers took some hardcore Gleeminox (sp), and are currently stuck in some subconscious dreamworld in which they cannot escape the memories of the first time they spilled Get Wild perfume all over their cut off butt jeans, and had to wipe it off with the sleeve of their copy of Dangerous while listening to Jughead.

falloff

I LOVE that movie!
And suddenly i can see a connection between Greevo, the rock star character, and Prince.

Great. Can't wait for P's next album "happiness pie"

I can't believe that if Prince viewed this DVD in a theatre ahead of time and knew how terrible the quality was ,that he would consider displaying it for press. The sound was coming from behind the screen instead of from all the speakers. It wasn't loud enough, and the picture was HORRIBLE. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice idea, and the live show at BBKings is another great performance that I'll never forget, but the DVD Sucks.

I don't understand why you guys think the DVD is such bad quality! The picture looks fine to me! What are the lines you keep referring to? I'm sure you realize that the lines and scratches on the "Family Name" track were put there for effect, to make it look old-fashioned, like from 100 years ago or something! That's the only place I saw any lines! I do agree the sound could be a bit better...in the theatre in LA it should have been louder, and at home I can only play it on my computer, so I haven't been able to hear it on a good stereo system yet! However, overall my only criticism of the whole thing is that it's way too short!

Just watched it and they're right about the video. It looks horrible. Although the disc isn't without merit, and is,in spots, quite good, the picture quality and camera work drag it down to level that's nearly unacceptable. If I wasn't already a fan and if I hadn't already been to 2 ONA shows, I'd watch this and wonder what all the fuss is about with Prince as a live act.

YUP sad Plus he deadens the crowd noise SO much, you'd think the people there weren't even excited about the show. Odd & disappointing, I'm just glad he included Whole Lotta Love...
