Will WB be in charge of this? Do the still own the rights? If so they may just look to make money not celebrate this event properly. I just hope there won't be too much fighting and confusion.

I like Purple Rain the way it is!
And that's how I will always like it.
Mostly, I don't like all the new editions of classic albums.
All this fill-up crap, like demo's and shit.

There's a concept behind an album which will be destoyed by putting some extra tracks on it.

One of the main reasons there aren't as many classic albums as there were in the 70's is the 80 minutes CD. Artist can put everything on an album, and they do!

So ... I'd love a 24-bit remaster!
And I love the 9 tracks!

All the tracks mentioned above: great to have ... on a bootleg or on the original album they appeared on

I disagree. When it comes to the albums that I love,I really like hearing "what could have been".I wanna hear the rejected tracks, the demos, the alternate takes...bring it on! Plus,I'm sick of hearing the poor quality bootlegs.I want to finally hear good,CLEAR versions of "Computer Blue" (long version),"G-Spot",etc.

On the other hand, sometimes it's not such a bad idea to just have the original album re-mastered without any bonus tracks.Stevie Wonder's landmark 70s albums were remastered several years ago, with NO bonus tracks whatsoever. So,I can see what you're saying. In any case,I just want the album to be re-mastered!

Okay ... we make a deal:
disc 1: the original Album remastered
disc 2: the rejected tracks, the demos, the alternate takes

Sounds good to me :

Someone mentioned Lionel Richie double disc

I just picked up the double cd of Diana with the original tracks as released, and the shelved Chic mix album, plus disc 2 of 12 inch rarities.

Awesome... liner notes from Niles Rodgers and the motown engineer.

superb. great to hear both. the chic mix is dirty with a much more funk party theme. the motown mix is very polished with a clean vocal..

a must buy.

anyway this could be a great format for the Purple rain project
Music is the best...

Yeah,I also got that 'Diana' Deluxe Edition too smile

It contains the original album released in 1980,plus the entire unreleased version ("the Chic mix").THIS is the type of stuff that I like to hear.As I mentioned above,I want to hear "what could have been"...lol...I wish all of my favorite artists would raid their vaults and give us all this stuff!! I want the demos, outtakes, alternate versions...bring it on smile

If we are going to dream how about:

1 - Purple Rain DVD with extras
2 - Purple Rain Original Soundtrack remastered
3 - Purple Rain Rarities
Remixes, alternate takes, extended versions,
out-takes, remixes & b-sides.
This could easily be two cds.
4 - Purple Rain - Live!
Rare never released before Purple Rain Era
recordings with Prince & The Revolution.
This could also be multi-disc.

Thats my dream.
My reality is I don't expect anything.

sounds pretty good to me!
