Are you satisfied with where Prince is at right now?

Of course it's his life to lead, and we would all like him to live his life and run his career the way HE wants.

But speaking personally, are you happy with where Prince is in his career right now, or do you feel it could have gone down differently?

Satisfied as Prince is an Incredible Talent; Of course I would like him to Tour this Year and be back on top as he once was in the Purple Rain days, but I think Prince Knows I Truly Care and Adore as likewise his other fans who Respect his Geniusness. He's the Best!!!

Well you can coulda, woulda, shoulda all day long. Could have been much better, could have been much worse. At the end of the day he is where he is. It's a rough business he's in and there are no guarantees no matter what an artist does.

Yeah I'm happy with where he is now. Its been a long haul. This new era has gotten off to a good start. I need seven good years of music to forget the lost years of 1994 thru 2001.

I think it's sad that like so many of the greats, Miles Davis, Charlier Parker, Marvin Gaye, he won't be as appreciated by the masses until he's passed on. (sorry for sounding a little eerie). I think they'll be tons of box sets and whatever that will be released and the masses will then realize how prolific he was, and what a great song-writer/musician/singer he was.

I let a friend of mine listen to "Dolphin" and "Shy" the other day, and he was totally blown away. Then I told him it was released back in 94/95, he couldn't believe great songs like these from an artist as huge as Prince is basically under the radar and really hasn't been heard or appreciated by most.

Prince has written some masterpieces since the Purple Rain days, I guess I feel sad that they'll never be heard by most.

Taurus: maybe it's because I am a Taurean myself, but I have said a lot of the same things. I completely agree Prince will be our generation's answer to Miles: celebrated as an icon, but sadly, not until after he's gone.

I'm loving his new direction. Despite the lack of popular recognition, The Rainbow Children, ONA (piano), Xpectation and NEWS are some of the freshest albums he's put out since the glory days of the 80s. Most of the 90s output was good music, but the albums always suffered from a lack of consistancy in style, like he was trying too hard to get a "hit" to prove Warner Bros wrong, and be a cult figure at the same time. Now he's given up on that "hit" and consentrating on the music. And regardless on your view of his current religious beliefs, I think they're helping inspire some great music, so I'll let him go with whatever God he wants to worship as long as the music's cool.

In short yes I am satisfied...

I'm not a huge fan of NEWS...but I don't hate it either. That being said I loved Expectation, TRC, and the ONA live CD and a good percentage of the songs released that were supposedly the "High" album.

The recent tour was far more enjoyable than the Hit N Run tour IMO.

Satisfaction is so relative to how long you've been a fan, and how intense the impact of his music is to you.

I think that a majority of us have come to expect a certain quality in the music P produces, as well as a quantity unsurpassed by most other pop stars.

With this as my perspective, how could I be satisfied with the current state of Paisley Park/NPG? I want more. I want lyrics that make me smile and not cringe. I want funk. I want rock. I want everything in-between.

I do love NEWS, but I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next money-shot of Prince brilliance, ala Gold Experience, SOTT, Lovesexy, Black Album, Dirty Mind, Exodus, ATWIAD, The Vault, etc.

It seems like I've been waiting forever.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

i think he still provides this quality of music, but not what some fans are used to and i think that makes it hard for folks sometimes to accept the new stuff he's doing.

I want lyrics that make me smile... I want funk. I want rock. I want everything in-between.

Well Prince has kind of been doing music lately that he hasn't really done before. I can't complain with experimentation...even if I'm not "on the edge of my seat." Still, I agree with your general sentiment. FYI, TRC is my favorite Prince album so I'm kinda biased with TRC and ONA live.

Hell, no, I'm not satisfied with where Prince is at right now!

And I'm not gonna be satisfied with where the m*** f*** is at until he's ringing the doorbell
at 418 Deerfield Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland, and asking, "Yo, Tid, can I pleeez hang out wit' ya?"

Shhh.

Was that the doorbell?

I figure it's his path to choose, so who am I to say...

besides, as my interest in him wanes bit by bit over the years it gives me increasing amounts of time to devote to other music

Me?

Who am I to make a personal opinion.

I just want do say, Prince's music has quality and quantity a planty. The new direction he takes with the NPG and the NPGMC is fulfilled with very good basis of ideas and it simply rules. I hope NPGMC will keep the crativity. Went you ever at the Musicology Room? Even fams can try theyr own musicality.

Important is, Prince is happy with his career. I hope so, because he does a good work.

yes.
i think prince is through trying to prove himself and that makes his performances and music sweeter.
popularity doesn't accompany real peace and artistic freedom, anyway.

I was very satisfied with TRC, which is (one of) my favorite Prince album(s). I can live without Xpectation, but I do enjoy NEWS. But I like it better when the music features vocals, so I hope his next album will be vocal again.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
