Muffy

I remember an ET story in which Sinead was freaking out about Prince. He was mad at her cause she was refusing to go to the award show and then she was freaking about the Pope. She also had Steven Fargnoli Prince's Ex manager as her manager. There was a Conflict between them. Whatever she was and is in my opinion a Total Flake ripping up a picture of the POPE on SNL. As far as Prince hitting a female. Never! I don't Believe he would EVER hit a Female. He can't control his Libido but wouldn't Hit a Female. I don't think he ever hit Vanity. Purple Rain was FICTION Not his LIFE!

I have listed to a whole Sinead cd and I did not like it.
When I refer to soul I am refering to soul music as in RnB music. I do hear any soul in Sinead's music. You will not find her music in the RnB section at the record store.

Prince has had soul from the For You album in 1978 to the present. Sinead is not in his league when it comes to soul.

I read about the re-canting of the story on Prince.org. Someone included a link from an interview that Sinead did.
She said it was a misunderstanding.

So she can't be a soul singer because she's not black and found next to Aliyah on the shelf? Oh please! How absurd. Try and say Van Morrison isn't a soul/R&B singer and you'd be laughed at endlessly.

Well, looks like this took all kinds of directions. I don't know about the incident with Sinead and Prince. I sure if it all happened it would have gotten a lot of publicity let alone an juicy lawsuit to boot (I'd of sued if someone threatened me in that way, wouldn't you? Hey, that's fear for your life kinda stuff.). So I would take it worth a grain of salt. And as far as stating whether Prince or Sinead is the the better artist, isn't this a Prince site, about Prince, for Prince fans (fams)? The point to this arguement is??? As far as Prince dissing women I guess it is all in a manner of how you understand dissing, no I don't believe he reduces woman to being less than a man in his music, in fact he seems to give them the power, via sex, but that was his genre of choice at the time.

And you didn't know Lisa and Wendy were lesbian? What rock have you been under?

What's the difference between "soul" and R&B then, except that R&B is traditionally sung by black people? Laurenrichardson seems to think they're one and the same and that white people cannot be soul singers. That's absurd.

monkey What was the deal with them two?

Sinead O'Connor covered Prince's song "Nothing Compares 2 U" and it became one of the biggest hits of 1990.But despite this,he apparently didn't like her very much. The 'Possesed' book claims that they had a brief relationship, but I seriously doubt this.

Sinead claims that Prince invited her to his home and then proceeded to cuss her out, implying that she wasn't very "lady-like",telling her "You know, you really should wear dresses and stop swearing so much".According to O'Connor,"He continually said that he was gonna beat the shit out of me".Then,he sent his limo driver away, leaving O'connor with no way to get back to the airport.

O'Connor was furious with Prince and went straight to the media with her story. She came up with her own theory about why Prince treated her this way."His problem is that I did a song of his ("Nothing Compares 2 U") without him being involved",she said."He's jealous. And he did say to me that he wishes I had never done his song.I think that, frankly, that song saved his fucking ass.He was in serious financial trouble until that song happened".She stopped performing the song at her concerts, saying "I'm just really pissed with him.I have to get to a point where I can separate the song from the artist".

---

Later O'Connner said that nothing happen at all. Who knows what really went on.

Yeah,I don't know what to believe regarding this crazy tale.Another odd thing is,Prince actually thanks Sinead in the liner notes to the 'D&P' CD,which was released months after this alleged incident.

Around '92,there were rumors that she was pregnant with Prince's baby, rumors that Troy refused to deny or confirm.

I don't know if this counts as a "diss",but Apollonia once said that, when she decided to leave the Prince camp in 1985,Prince was furious and told her "You'll never make it without me".

Since leaving Prince's organization in 1985,she appeared on the nighttime soap opera 'Falcon Crest'.In 1988,she recorded a solo album consisting of trendy dance music. In the late 80s,she got busted for trying to buy marijuana.Nowadays, she lives next door to Carmen Elektra and is scheduled to appear at that upcoming Sheila E. charity concert that will reunite members of Prince's bands.

Sinead is a total flake. I wouldn't believe a word she says. IMO her only good song was Nothing compares...

And that wasnt even HER tune
So Im guessing besides the reporter nicknamed BJB and Sinead, Prince hasnt dissed any other femmes. confuse

You are both so utterly wrong, it isn't even funny.

Sinéad is an incredible talent, and she's a LOT better stuff than Prince's little ballad NC2U. Get a clue please!

THANKU IAN!!!
clapping

she has come 2 terms with much of her past, and rebuilt bridges she burnt during this time - she even said on a recent TV appearance that (whatever happened) with Prince was now sorted, and in the past, and that they have spoken a few times since on more friendly terms. She is now an ordained Holy Mother now in Ireland, and does a lot 4 the needy, homeless, hungry and poor as well as releasing a fantastic Irish album earlier this year, Sean Nos Nua (Her son's name):

Everybody deserves 2 be forgiven, and I think she's more than paid her pennance - people should get over it. She had a lot of issues she struggled with, and she struggled with them publicly - even Madonna has done that.
Anyway, she's given a lot back, and continues 2 do so - mainly unpublicised.

Soul/R&B whatever you wanna call it is a genre of music. Just like hip-hop, country, metal, blues etc.. Just because laura said she doesn't think sinead is a soul singer doesn't mean she's making it racial. I think Prince is not a country artist. Not because he's black, he just isn't.
