REPLY FROM CLARE FISCHER'S WIFE TO ME EMAIL!

GREETINGS ORG PEOPLES:

wave

Yesterday I sent a message out to Mr. Fischer in regards to his collaborations with Prince that aren't listed on his web page.

Before days end I received a reply from Mrs. Fischer. I was really surprised as I wasn't expecting one. Especially not so promptly.

I sent a message stating that I loved his work with Prince and that it wouldn't be the same without his arrangements.

Here was the response from Mrs. Fischer:

Dear Mr. Ortega,

Clare has written for Prince for a number of years and the arrangements he
has written for him are so numerous, it's hard to remember all of the
titles. A few that Clare remembers:

Wendy's Parade
New Position
I Wonder U
Under the Cherry Moon
Others Here With Us
Life Can Be So Nice
Old Friends For Sale
Somethimes It Snows in April
In All My Dreams
Venus De Milo
Do You Lie
Alexa De Paris
Kamasutra Overture
All the King's Horses

Perhaps if you write to Prince at Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis, you can get more of the information you're looking for. Address to write to:

Paisley Park Studios
7801 Audobon Road
Chanhassen, MN 55317

Hope this helps. And yes, I read your letter to Clare. Thank you for
taking the time to write and for your kind words. I think you "made his
day!"

Best regards,
Donna Fischer
(Mrs. Clare)

He should seriously consider a page on his website dealing strictly with the work he's done with Prince.

Question is, does he still collaborate with Prince?

TRC strings are credited to: "The Vault"

?

What happened?

Are there strings on this? I'll have to listen to it when I get home - I thought I knew this song inside-out, but I guess not if I can't even remember if there are strings...

In All My Dreams

Hmmm, she (or Clare himself) wasn't completely accurate in the names, but maybe it is called In All My Dreams after all...

All the King's Horses

What is this??? I have never heard of this one. Since all the others mentioned are from the Parade-era, perhaps this is an outtake from then too!!! I love being a Prince fan and continually finding out about unknown tracks from 17 years ago!! Cool beans.

Why do you think Clare collaborated on NEWS? His name isn't on the credits and I cannot think of anything he would have done. I think everything is synthesized.

well, you´re gonna have to read the credits again because fischer is certainly on them. He collaborates in North at least

Okay I just read everyword on the package and he is not listed. Why are you so certain? Also, if he had played don't you think his wife would have mentioned that one first?

Also it says it was recorded on February 6th at Paisley Park which doesn't seem to indicate that he sent it to Clare to have him add on to it.

I don't have it here right now, but I'm sooo sure that Clare's name on there somewhere. But I think Prince used already existing strings, but who knows?

Unless I am blind it's not there.

I've looked like 4 times and honestly there isn't that much to read so I don't see how I could be missing it.

It's written on the same tab as "directed by Prince" and "mixed by Prince": "NORTH -additional string samples: courtesy Clare Fisher"

The actual samples are quite easy to hear. They don't sound like they were recorded for that song, rather than lifted by work he'd done for Prince before.

I smiled when I read Mrs Clare's suggestion "Perhaps if you write to Prince at Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis, you can get more of the information you're looking for." Good luck finding out more from Prince!

The N>E>W>S cd does give credit to Clare. At least mine does. Where'd you get yours? Maybe yours (or mine) is a misprint. Stranger things have happened.

HI TO ALL

i had also a small correspondance with Mrs Fischer so it reminds me memories ...

apparently, they do not feel it so amazing to work with Prince more than others artists so this is a little bit disappointed in terms of annecdotes...

and as i said in a previous message, Clare did not met Prince to work. Prince send him recordings and Clare produce some strings around it .

kiss to all

I wonder. Mine definately does not include the Clare line.

I wonder if he knows that Prince used some of his old string arrangements (if that is what happened.)

So none of us are blind. BTW my CD also has two hidden tracks at the end! The second wave rocks! Seriously, does the first pressing also have the flimsy folding/inserting cardboard?

Back to Clare..

Yep you have to bend the cardboard to shut the package. What a stupid design. Hey did they spell Saxophone right on the second wave packages?

Clare did NOT collaborate on NEWS - it clearly says (on some cds anyway!) that Clare's string arrangements were "sampled" - that is, they were pre-recorded, probably sent to Prince some time ago for something else and now Prince has decided that they will fit on North. There is nothing wrong with that and Clare is proabably aware of it.

It actually sounds like it might be sampled from The One - that's what I thought the very first time I heard it, and now that comes into my mind every time...

As well as the riddle of Clare or not Clare, I think someone on another thread said the copyright date on NEWS was 2002. Mine hasn't got the Clare credit and it shows copyright 2003. Do the Clare ones show 2002?

Oh and saxophone is still spelled saxaphone.

i have a recording of "all the kings horses" by
aretha franklin. it`s not here right now, but i think
she recorded it between 1968 and 1970.
it is a slow ballad and it is simply beautiful.
if you like aretha then you must hear this.

HELLO AGAIN ORG-HEADS:

Let me just say that these are the quickest responses I've ever gotten to any inquiry on any site. Mrs. Fischer is the bomb!

I followed up with Mrs. Fischer about "All the King's Horses" and the sample of Clare's music on N>E>W>S:

Dear Mr. Manuel,

"All the King's Horses" was the title of the last arrangement Clare wrote
for Prince in September of last year. The title could have been changed by
the time a CD was released, if in fact it has been released. We're not
notified of a release, nor do we even receive a copy of the the finished
product, so we're pretty much in the dark. Wish we could be more helpful.

If we could hear the new CD, Clare could, I'm sure, identify his part on it,
but we don't have the CD.

Write any time.

Our best to you all,
Clare and Donna
