How to put Prince back on top

It doesn't matter how good a record is, if people ain't listening, people ain't buying it and if people ain't buying it, then it won't get on the billboards which it won't go platinum or even get Grammy Nominated rolleyes. My thing is who needs the stress? All Prince really has to do is put out a couple of crappy albums, get a good publicists and make a ass out of himself and tell everybody what they wanna hear. I mean that's what people really like right? Who cares about talent or even truth these days shrug ? It's all about Competition and the more you appear to be over the top, no matter if it's offensive, the more famous u'll get and the more records you will sale.

Prince should just stop making music and become some publicity whore. that would put him back on top, here are some others recommendations also :

Prince either should sleep with a young girl under age(but to make it big news she would have to be white living in a small town)

Adopt a few zoo animals, dress them up like people and give them names...

Claims he owns the skeleton of ET in his closet

He talk to Sammy Davis Jr Ghost

Or get busted for a outrages drug charge then I'm telling Prince will be back on top again. He just need to stops all this Positive crap and do some negativity for a change, ain't that what fame is about? Lies and Negativity? I don't think Prince is cut out for the business anymore, He's better off becoming some night time musician at a local club if he wants to be a respectful musician, but it ain't no room for that in Hollywood. Hollywood is all about Scandal wink

Who agrees with me?

Well, actully if Prince just made more commercial music and stayed media worthy, he'd be doing just fine.

I don't care.

I don't think he (Prince) does either (i.e. "Being on top")

lot's of people stay scandal free and continue to work and sell their product. scandal tends to harm career rather than help it.

if prince wants to get back to the top, he needs to quit preaching in his music, write something catchy, and get it out to the public on the date is is listed as coming out, not weeks later.

I'm not saying for myself, but I'm just speaking sarcastically for all the music fans and even some prince who wonders why Prince ain't made no mo records since Diamonds and Pearl or say Prince ain‘t made nothing good since back in the days lol

That's easy...

1. Tell Prince to put his production pride aside and let The Neptunes give him a track or two.

2. Get some special guests to appear on the album like Jay-Z, Pharrell, or 50 Cent.

3. Become really good friends with Carson, La La, and everyone else over at TRL.

4. Sign with a major record label like J, Arista, Columbia, Elektra, Universal, Virgin, etc.

5. Become a member of the RIAA and the Recording Academy.

Basically SELL THE FUCK OUT!!! nuts

Just kidding. lol

Yeah, like I said on another thread, it seems more important to some fans that Prince tops the charts again than it is to Prince.

Prince has been to the mountain top and judging by many of his decisions since he's been "freed", he's in no hurry to return.

Just look at the choices he has made for singles since he left WB. While we can all argue about our opinions of Emancipation, New Power Soul, Rave, etc., I think most of us agree that they would have sold better with different single choices and better videos.

But even better marketing strategies don't guarantee success.
It seems to me that at this point in his life, Prince just wants to make the type of music he enjoys, release it, and those who are interested can buy it or download it.

When you look at artists like Santana, you know it's not a mission impossible to be on top again after many years of not being on the mainstream media's radar. Will Prince ever return to that sacred position at the top of the charts? Who knows. But right now Prince doesn't seem too concerned about it, and neither am I.

I would HATE to see whatever flavour of the month is in now to produce Prince.

I would hate to see him try to make "commercial" music to get back in the charts.

NEWS might be collecting dust on my shelves as we speak, but I wouldn't want another Rave.

Prince can make commercial music, he doesn't need the Neptunes or whoever to add their sound to his stuff.

It can be frustrating having to explain to people the whole thing with Prince and why he isn't in the charts, and his history with commerce/promotion.

But it's been said before that no-one else has topped him, so why should he - and I think that rings true.

Has anyone else done a Crystal Ball, a Mountains, a Lovesexy, an All My Dreams, a Lady Cab Driver?

When they do, fair enough - but right now Prince is off trying to do something he hasn't done before, which means he's still creative, and still making new music.

I might not like it all (NEWS I am very disappointed with), but at least he isn't churning out carbon-copy tracks that anyone else could do.

If he keeps moving, we get something fresh - that'll do me.

Prince doesn't care to be "back on top", so why should I? Please excuse my crappy typing.

Mescaline had nothing to do with it.

I fixed it (above), OK?

I love this idea!!! Release a really commercial album with lots of crazy stuff to get him all over the papers. Madonna is still at the top so there's no reason why Prince can't be.

And even if Prince did do the commercail thing again I don't think he would get any air play on the main R&b or pop stations.Basic reason why is , cuz young folks rule the
the stations and they would wanna hear P Diddy way before They would wanna hear anything by Prince. Kids don't know what real music is, so they wouldn't know how to recognize and that's the truth. Maybe the Jazz move was a good ideal, at least the DJ's are more willing to play his stuff then the other main R&b stations or Pop Stations, see y'all gotta think about that stuff 2...

Wasn't the one consider a so called commercial single?
I remember when it was released and I didn't even hear the song until I saw the video, even the video was aired once or twice on BET.

"How to put Prince back on top"?

Thanks for the thread, DL. In a sense, he IS on top, or certainly near. Remember Bosch--the world turned upside down. The greatest master is the greatest servant, no? biggrin

Prince Never fell off, he just went INDIE and so I think he's happy with that!

I may not be too excited about all this Instrumental Music, because I think his vocal skills are amazing and I love his style of singing...Prince is da man!!!

But if I could put my 2 cents in this subject matter jejeje
I don't really agree with any of this controversial hype stuff, he'd get locked up for sleeping w/ some hichtown girl whose under aged!

Prince just needs a publicist thats annoying like me, post press releases everywhere, get his name back into the mainstream, hype him as I would a new artist!

Its been a long time since people actually heard the name Prince, some ppl in this world still thinks he's the artist formerly known as. (DUH) LMAO!

I think it would be great if he hooked up w/ a major label that would allow him the rights to his music and all they'd have to worry about is promotion, getting the music played on the radio and that takes big money...atleast get 2 or 3 singles out there for him.

Get the Pop stations and top 40 A/C stations to reel Prince in for heavy rotation and he'll be fine, ppl love 'Prince' and kids are always impressionable on well established artist who have decent track records in the business and kids would embrace him, he just needs to create a record for them.

Something Electrifying, Pop, with tons of Guitar, out of this world-kick ass guitar licks and no half minute solos...just wild ass guitar, perhaps that deep sexy vocal in the style of 'When doves Cry' not to mention kids like his 'Erotic City' vocals as well...thats what they go for these days...something catchy and not ordinary...something playful and Prince has got it!

Just release a 13 song Album, because ppl will not buy a 10 song cd.
Xperiment with it...by having some different producers spit on it...from Neptunes to Missy...these artist are in the same mind frame of Prince when it comes to different sounds and xperimentation...thats why I think they'd mash well.

Prince can produce majority of the album as usual, because he's still got that funky state of mind and just be more daring lyrically, go after other artist(s) in the industry for how they have achieved success, and get into politics and state of the world in music and world events.

Just don't give a damn anymore...make himself heard.
Take to some highly rated Television shows...
Give MTV a show, light up their stage and leave them breathless...PRINCE can do all of this if wanted too...LOL
I have some imagination, but its still in him...he's not that clean cut these days...just waiting it out!

PRINCE give us FUNK, JAZZ, ROCK, BLUES, HIP HOP, Gospel, Tribal, Jungle, Trance, Electronics, and Xperiment with it!

and name the album one word, no photo on cover of album, just some weird artsy picture...that draws the attention, with BIG BOLD LETTERS " P.R.I.N.C.E' across it.

13 Songs, Special Guest Producers, raw-cutting edge xperimentation warning sticker label on it!

Give us a 3 minute ditty for the first single, with lots of bangin beats, mixing, tons of bass, old school P-flava and guitar.
Also his falsetto, high pitch screams...and sexual alter-ego!

It'll get the attention of someone

...THEN I WOKE UP! LMAO
