"Modernaire"
There is a fan-mix floating around, it is quite badly edited, but there isn't anything else widely circulating. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Modernaires was the name of Dez's band. The Modernaire album was supposed to be released in the summer of 84 along with Purple Rain,Appolonia 6,& Ice Cream Castles. For "unknown" reasons it never appeared.
Rumor said that Prince and Dez had a falling out and Prince blocked the release.Others said that WB thought the entire project was weak and left it in the can. Dez lives in Nashville and is a part of the Christian rock scene .People who have talked with him says that he hates Prince.

i think dez's group was called the Modernaires.
i think the story was-he left prince bcuz of a religious conversion. he didn't feel right doing the sex tunes p was doing. p knew this...and surprising didn't "fire dez like he did other guys apparently he respected dez and let him leave-putting wendy in his place. he gave dez (and wife) a going away present-and helped him get the Modernaire tang together. my guess is-its in the movie as a concession (favor) to dez. why it never came out...who knows? my guess is by the time the movie hit-dez went out on his own and p lost interest in promoting the song. personally i always liked the tune...the dance everybody in 1st avenue is doing reminds me of what the peeps are doing in the raspberry berey video! btw the cd dez put out in the late 90's is alright. its spiritual-christian ROCK n Roll. dez still can play his butt off. his message is different now. second btw...was checking out my old 1981 RITZ tape and diggin' on dez, andre,p,lisa, fink and bobby...loves this band! they took no prisoners. looked strange as hell (p at his most WEIRD LOOKING-leg warmers! but still looking cool...to me anyway!) they rocked HARD with a new wave funk edge. (i'm with handclaps the dirty mind era prince was DA bomb!) youngca. "we just wanna jam

Dez should've stuck around they would have probably got along famous these days since Prince is a total religious nut.
When was the last time Dez and Prince met, anyone know? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(a funny thing-on the cover of the cd-they refer to him as prince's former guitarist, which is kinda funny...if he is "hatin'" on ole boy-why even use your previous ties with him? ha ha!) youngca" on da one ya'all...just da sexy people..."
