what yoou all think of this song??? i personally think its one of the best songs ever,its a very beautiful song and prince does this in a truly inspiring way,i love this song,what about you guys?

Beautiful. It's not in my top five, but maybe in my top 20. The falsetto is perfect; the deep-voiced breakdown is classic and breathtaking.

it's the musical equivalent of a mozzarella cheese stick bein dipped in a vat of cake frosting. in other words: sugary cheese galore.

The words are beautiful but I just don't particularly care for it.

Only Prince UK number One... Doesn't stop it being a lame ass tune though does it? Album version is slightly better. Prefer the Mustang mix-otherwise skip the tune

Beautiful tune and falsetto, but the lyrics suck. It gives me the impression that Prince considers beauty to be the most important qualilty and purpose for women's existance. When gets to the part about "beauty from inside" it sounds more like an afterthought.

The vocal performance on this song was one of his most impassioned. It's downright perfect in that respect.

But come on, it's one of those songs that you fall in love with instantly for the first three or four listens before it marinates and then slowly but surely gets on your damn nerves. It's just a cheesy track that I skip over all the time now. It's not too bad though. It's one of those songs where I admit it's a good composition and all, but I just grew tired of it (usually). I will come back to it eventually though!

It has some stupid lyrics. Can anyone explain what this line means?

Also I might be over analyzing this but Mars, in astrology symbolizes war and anger. Maybe he means that this girl will effect him so much that he will have no more room for hatred.

the overwhelming chart popularity of this song around the world proved to me that the general public has SHITTY taste in music.

This song showcases the vocal range that most artists do not have. One of my top 5. Interestingly- Purple Rain 1984, TMBGITW 1994, 2004 Will the pattern continue?

Good song, great vocal. Have to disagree with those who prefer the album version and mustangmix though. I love the additional vocals on the single version, and the mustang mix is one of the most overrated things prince has ever done, its just a bland, dull reworking of the song.
