Randy Crawford's Purple Rain Just heard this today & pleased to see that, instead of trying to make a clone of Prince's version, shes made her own very original arrangment.
Anyone else think this is one of the better Prince covers?? | |

I may be a bit biased because I've always loved Randy's voice and vocal style, but certainly her take on Purple Rain is superb.
It's rare that I hear a cover of Prince's that I really, really like on it's own merit. But she took Purple Rain and personalized it in a way that makes the song very intimate - like a love song. When I first bought her album with the cover of Purple Rain several years ago, I used to listen to it all the time. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
