(Camden Palace, London 1988) Still moves me even now... Empty Room '95 (heart-wrenchingly appropriate) but the best Ive seen him pull off live was: 'Purple Rain' at the American Music Awards in 1985 He just wrung the sh*t outta that guitar like nuthin Ive eva seen, was a fantastic performance (If u havent ever seen it, check it out if ur able!) at Joshy down-under

its got nuthin on the Sarifice Bagleys Warehouse 93 version. Peach (live @ Bagleys) kicks 2 much ass. & Endorphinemachine from Bagley's is the best version u will find anywhere (audience recording but so good u can hardly tell..i couldn't!) & CallTheLaw at the same gig is off the chain! Ooo yeah. I just pulled the Bagleys recording out of the attic and I can't stop listening to the encore of Come-Endorphinmachine-Peach. The Wembley Stadium versions of these songs are hot as well.

The "Billy" guitar stuff is overrated man, it's just Prince playing some very simple guitar chords over and over again... It's very cool but it's not something really incredible or something... I do however listen to it alot cos it's just nice to hear him play 50+ minutes of guitar... Something I forgot though is an incredible "Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)" version he did at a rehearsal for his birthday gig in 1984... Now THAT'll make u weep... actually that whole rehearsal will... Dude was in top form that morning... Neversin. [This message was edited Thu Jul 3 5:38:11 PDT 2003 by Neversin] O(+>NIИ<+)O

Any version of Purple Rain live is always a good start to show how good he is with 6 strings.
What about the Santana medley!!! I like what he did back in 93 Wembley Stadium (Come-Endorphinemachine-Peach)! He was playing alot of guitar around 94-95 period, if you can get your hands on any bootlegs, you'll be pleasntly surprised(The Jam/Shhh!/The Ride). Purple House, She Always in My hair, U Got The Look, The Christ, Purple Rain, Let Go Crazy (RAve 200). There's too many, and I haven't even mentioned Just my Imagination or Joy in Repition!!

Joy In Repetition - It AInt over
The whole small club album (especially Just My Imagination) The whole of his acoustic set last year. Purple Rain - Tokyo 1990 Most of the ONA tour - i think it was a revalation for P to strip down his live act to have him playing all the guitar. The Everlasting Now has some great guitar work in it on ONA. ICNTTPOYM - my favourite pop solo - pure exuberance. Too many to think of really, although i do agree his live guitar work is far more exciting. The worst period IMO was around 94-97. He kept complimnenting a lot of his studio guitar solos with nasty, nasty synth sounds (Gold, The Holy River) which ruined them.

[This message was edited Thu Jul 3 5:38:11 PDT 2003 by Neversin] They might be "simple" chords, man...but I can think of worse ways to spend 45 minutes than listening to 'Billy'! sometimes simplicity is really all you need As for the 'Something In The Water...' guitar solo you are bang on the money, sir .
