Here's my review of NEWS

So I get my new cd, and pop it in.. here's how im feelin it.
North-This might be the track I dig most, Simply because it flows nicely the whole way through. I tracked my cd when I got it, and I only tracked it in one spot, though I really felt like I didnt have too.. It flows beautifuly, and the guitar/piano/strings.. those were the high points of the song. It takes some getting used to on that baritone sax, but it all just went nicely. I think the whole misconception of the "improv" has frightened people, especially the one's who dont use instruments.. but to me, thats what a majority of Prince's music is.. For those who are complaining about this, do u not enjoy Small Club, or perhaps the solo's in Joy in repetition Live? those are mostly improv's.. Thats a feeling, and it just flows when u got it. It flows here, and it was nicely done.

East- This first segmant of the track is really hard to get used to.. in fact, its pleasant having a tracked cd because that part isnt a highlight for me, simply because I know what comes next, the best part of the cd (IMO).. When this transition hits, the whole "movement" of the cd shifts, its got a great vibe to it, the "koto" effects from the keyboards, the drums and excellent guitar riff.. it all works out beautifully. I love all the sounds in and out of the album, its a nice touch. Another transition begins to take light, and it picks up-beat. all together this was a definant highlight for me.

West- Starts out sweet and slow, a pretty melody. There are a few changes here and there, it mostly picks up beat and there are some funky keys/horns and guitars bein played. Prince hits a few solo's towards the end.. all together this track hopefully will grow on me.

South-I dig the ending of this song.. near the 5 minute mark.. from then on, its pretty cool, kindof funky drum/noises. The piano part that renato plays is really nice.. thats a jazzy style, and he flows nicely on it. one comment I should make is that renato should add a little reverb to his playin sometimee. All together, I am really feelin this album, much more than his previous instrumental album.

Hope this helps. By my review, it shows I really dig this joint. I wasnt totally lookin forward to a instrumental, but this one is different, and I think its a beautiful record. Hope u dont get the idea that this is the usual "kissin up" that goes on at npgmc, cause Im not about that, I just dig the record.

Well I've only heard the songs on Npgmc, and hopefully I can add it to my cd collection soon.. but we never know about npgmc shipping.. From what i've heard, I liked it, my favourite song was SOUTH.
