Since it was first released as a B-side in '84 I've loved this song!!! It's funky, it's got just enough of that DIRTY MIND/ 1999 synth mix to keep you bouncing, the bass line is deep and incredible, and the words blow me away!!

I have always loved P, since I was 9 years old. My mom was a fan, so his music has always been played in my home. So when P hit it big with 1999 and Purple Rain, He was an old favorite of mine when he had just become "new" to others.

Hearing Prince and Purple Rain all over the radio that year in 1984, I knew P had really made it when the radio stations around my home town of CLEVELAND, OH started playing 17 DAYS in HEAVY ROTATION instead of the other hits from the soundtrack!!

As a long time fan (at that point) It pleased me so much to hear this song on the radio as much as "When Doves Cry", "Let's go crazy" the other so-called "commercial" pop releases of P.

Even hearing the song now, almost 20 years later, I get just as excited as I did when I first heard it on the radio in 1984.

It never gets old to me!! That guitar riff intro...Come 'On!!

Bloody fabulous song. Yearning enough to make you feel the emotion, but funky and upbeat enough to make your head bob. I love this track.

Back in the day when so much good material was coming out, Songs like 17 Days, Erotic City and Shes Always in My Hair could only make B sides!

All them would be choice singles now!

Yeah, I listen to quite often. It's very heavy on the guitars but the melody line is the same. I like their version almost as much as Prince's, I think it ranks in the top 3 of Prince cover versions.

to lovebizarre...i recall a story around the time of G-BRIDGE,about jill getting ticked off at prince for her
part getting deleted into the bit part it turned out to be.

in this story they mentioned her getting pissed off at him
and for a while she'd smoke and speak to him only in french...just to piss him off!

I agree! I've always said this was my favorite Prince song, although it's really hard to choose. When someone presses me to name one, this is always the one that comes out of my mouth first. Naturally, Erotic City comes out next, because that's just gotta be #2! LOL! Too funky!
