Japanese CD pressings are the closet things to remastered Prince now

Most of my japanese pressings do sound better than the domestic releases. THis is most obvious on Gold Experience, Chaos and Disorder, 1999, and Purple Rain to my ear.

NOTE: you do need a better crappy equipment to hear it correctly

There's nothing wrong with his stuff from the 90's.the mastering on the Gold Experience is great, not to mention loud as fuck.

All his 80's stuff needs doing though.

Yeah, just compare "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" on "The Gold Experience" and on "The Beautiful Experience"... I know these are different versions, but the one on "TGE" is also much louder, much more "compressed" (is that the right word?).

How is the Japanese version of "The Gold Experience"? Is it also "loud" / "compressed"?

I have the Japanese import of The Scandalous Sex Suite. I wonder if it's worth anything. I can't tell if the sound quality is better or not.

Seriously, are you on crack? All of Prince's stuff from the 90's was released on compact disc as well as vinyl so they are all ready digital. They don't need to be remastered.

thats not neccessarily true. just because it came out on cd doesn't mean it's totally digital. unless it is DDD. and still there are various types of digital.

no they're not. they're very easy to come by. in fact, most tower records has the japanese ep of this. you're better off however just getting one on ebay. they go for around $10 when they're listed (yes, the japanese ones...)

you are still gonna debate that the japanese pressings are "remastered"?? let me ask you does it say "remastered"?? nooo it doesnt, what you do not seem to understand that your fanatical ears wanna hear something cleaner because its an "import" the master is recorded in the same mix volume as the transfer from tape to cd during

mastering for the japanese pressings, now as for sound system? i have a extremely expensive sound system and played both with the eq flat. and theres no difference man. not a one.

u dont know anything about sound or how to adjust sound, its just all in your mind face. please stop trying to debate this because you are only embarrasing yourself. as usual

They DO need 2 be re-mastered actually. There's a lot of signal-2-noise ratio from the tape transfers - bearing in mind that these are STILL the bog-standard releases that came out originally, and no attempt (apart from current rumblings about some remastering action on PR by WB at the moment in preparation 4 next year) has been made as yet 2 rectify it...
Everything up 2 The Gold Experience was recorded on analogue, so sounds shit.
It's a damned shame 2 let such a wealth of great stuff just sit their and rot... rolleyes
I dont pretend 2 know about the legal ramifications of it all by any means - BUT...IF Prince has been able 2/IS able 2 rectify this by giving the nod, then he should - cuz not only would he be doing us a favour, he'd be doing his bank balance a favour 2 - as I know 99% of the peeps on here would go and buy the new, better quality sounding versions over again - I know I would.
By not doing this, he's not only doing his fans a disservice, and his back catalogue 2... nod
