Santasna's new album....just like Prince?

I just read on eonline.com that Santana is working on an instrumental album entitled, "Hymns". Could be interesting. Havent't heard NEWS yet but I really liked Xpectation. Sometimes you get so much more out of instrumentals. Just wanted to pass on the info. Peace

Carlos Santana has always been making instrumentals. Europa is one of the most classic rock instrumentals of all time.
why do you think that Prince performs The Santana Medley so much?
i think it might be the other way around:

Prince's new album...just like Santana?

Love those lyrics to WHEN eye LAY MY HANDS ON U ...

Nobody knows
Like God knows
Where the deepest part of your river flows
Snap Snap
Unto these nylon hose
Around your thigh my finger goes slowly
Like a cat tip-toes
Until I reach the cap nose
I will touch thee in the softest manner
Like Europa in the hands of Santana

Love that ripping guitar. Still wonder if Santana joined Prince in the studio for that one? Think not since I heard Prince rip into the Santana Medley in Honululu in 1997. ...

Sorry for sounding ignorant, I didn;t know Santana did a lot of instrumentals. I know it's a given -- just listen to his music. But I'm not all that into Santana so I didn't know when Prince mentioned Santana and the word Europa. I thought Prince was making it up but giving credit where credit is due.

Wonder if the public will eat Santana's new instrumental batch when it hits the streets?

I hope it's another Borboletta, a truly magical and wonderful album.

I'm thrilled that Carlos is making an instrumental album.I want him to go back to basics and make a "real" Santana album again, without all the guest stars and radio-friendly pop songs.'Hymns' features only Carlos with his bassist (Benny Rietveld),keyboardist (Chester Thompson) and drummer (Dennis Chambers)."It's basically instrumental hymns, just intrumental songs",Carlos says."Kind of like Eric Johnson or Steve Vai---not that I'm going in that direction but more in the sense that it's instrumental".The album is almost finished and should be out late this year or early 2004.

Carlos also wants to release a DVD of his 1988 performances with saxophonist Wayne Shorter and Patrice Rushen in the near future. There are also plans for a Spanish language album.

'Borboletta' (1974) is my favorite Santana album. The music on that album just lifts you higher and higher.

That one and Welcome, the opening song is just goosebump enducing.

On Borboletta, Flor De Canela is just almost tear enducing, I've gotten very emotional just hearing that song.

and the song Canto de los Flores is magestical and mellow, like flowers, the Fender Rhodes is just right.
