"Bring Back The Kid"! I just watched SOTT for the first time in ages this week and it was stunningly good, but I can't say I miss him - I love what he is doing now and wouldn't really want to see him trying all that stuff in his forties. James Brown was stunning but now he is faintly embarassing.

"Bring Back The Kid"! I agree, bring back the Kid! Say bye bye to the preacher! I miss the free spirit inside Prince that inspired him to write from the soul. The Rainbow Children either talks down or insults people. If he intended the message to be one of peace and tolerance, why did he need to be faith-specific? LaMont said: I do miss the dancing at the gigs. Time gets us all though. Let's face it - Prince matures like any other human. He moves on in life. He is not 21 anymore - mentally or physically. Thus we will miss some of the splits, jumping off speakers and pianos, profanity,m the scantily clad babes, some of the sex, etc. However, the work is as good as its ever been. He is stretching out and reaching new levels that he could not have when he was younger and on top pf the charts. We have the time tested classics with the new inspired work of a wiser and more learned musical genius. The retrospective of his career is breathtaking - not just for longevity but for the consistent accomplishment and daring innovation.
My first inclination is not to use the word "miss". When you are young, you never think that you will get old. But if you are fortnate, that day will come. The grace and style with which you meet it makes the difference. From the modest beginnings of For You through the dazzling heights of Purple Rain to the mastery of The Rainbow Children, the ride has been like no other that I can recall. I dont look back with any despair - the best is today and it is only getting better. I agree 100% ***************************************************

I guess I miss just about everything that stopped when he became a JW. I miss his voice. Maybe he doesn't have one anymore. that would be the day. that's ridiculous, lovebird, of course he still has a voice. ***************************************************

what i miss or (missed) about prince is his great live show performances. I am a very young fan and I never got the opportunity to see him perform back in the day. I hear he doesn't dance and curse since he became a JW, he's always been greatly known to have the best stage performances, so that's what i missed out on the most.

it's so odd, cuz i started gettin into p durin a bittersweet time... ditto. I was watching something on television about the purple rain premiere and it just seems like it would have been sooo exciting to be a fan back then. Too bad I was just a baby.

Here's a contraditory thought I miss the fact that he isn't popular with the 'locals' anymore. Everyone out there seems to think that Prince's last album was SOTT or Purple Rain for that matter. No one seems to know that he is still out there and think that you are weird for liking him. And here's the contradictory part of my thought... I kinda like that!

No doubt this is due to his age and maturity, but I miss the edginess, the energy, the nastiness, and the pole. Being that I'm approaching 40, I dig the jazzier music that he's putting out now. I think a person has to have somewhat of a musical ear to hang in with him now a days. More of an open mind. (Hope that doesn't sound snobbish.) With that said, I think I miss the Prince from '79-'82. (My high school years.) I miss the freak! I miss the funk!

I just miss the Revolution. They were arguably the best band P's worked with. And I very much dougt that they'll reunite. But the R&R Hall of Fame is around the corner. Let's cross our fingers.

His "I know I said I'd be good but the dig it when i'm bad" attitude and Wendy and Lisa. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Just about any version of the NPG kicks the Revolutions ass, IMO. And don't hold your breath since the Revolution wouldn't be eligible to get in, just Prince. Anyway, mixed feelings about this one. The dancing, wild-ass Prince was fun to watch, but when I see MJ still trotting out the same ass moves as he did 20 years ago it's kinda sad. Considering his gift for turning out amazing pop/funk, it'd be nice to see Prince head in that direction again. . [This message was edited Sun Jul 13 16:29:04 PDT 2003 by Universaluv]

The Revolution had it live AND in the studio, the NPG was mainly a live band. The day Prince sings a song like "In This Bed I Scream" to some NPG members then I'll maybe I'll relook at their importance. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Hi Folks,
Doesn't anybody miss the proudness of being a Prince-fan. I am only a "real"-fan for less then a year, so I don't know what it feels to be a fan of Prince in 1985-'87. What I do know is that whenever I drop the name "Prince", which I try to avoid as much as possible, I always get the same reactions: Is he still alive? He is gay! Does he still make records? So again: doesn't anybody miss the feeling of being a big fan of a "commercialy" succesfull artist? Just wondering Spanjeganger
