In terms of chronology of his catalog, I'd say "When We're Dancing Close and Slow". As far as my experience listening to him in the order that I first heard things, that would probably be "Insatiable".
I know some folks really love those songs, but I thought they were some of his weaker ballads. | |

Ok, here comes my crucifixion...
The first song that I almost always fast-fowarded past on my first ever Prince mix-tape was ... Dirty Mind... I still don't really like that song, although I think it's cool as a laid back funk groove to play in your car driving home in the evening after a great party. That's easy. It was his very first song, "Soft & Wet." I haven't kept up with the recent stuff, but "Batdance" and "My Computer" bite! The latter sounds so contrived. Like, dude just bought a Dell, and now he's trying to be all computer savvy and ish cause he (thinks he) knows the lingo and gets email!:
