I just had a really fucked up dream about Prince last night The details are fading fast, but I wanted to write down what I could remember before all was lost. Anyway, here goes. I was at Prince's house having cocktails with him talking about music and how it was the most important thing to me in the world. We were talking like old friends and there was no real sense of being starstruck. Then, the phone rang and it was his mom. He said a few quick things to her and then asked me if I wanted to talk to her. It was almost like she was the celebrity and I was privileged to be given the chance to hear her voice. So he handed me the phone and I was like "Hey Mattie! What's up?" And she was like, "Well you know, not much." Prince was all smiles and eagerly listening as we talked until I asked her what it was like being Prince's mom. She said, "He's alright, I guess, but he has the absolute worst dress sense." I started cracking up and Prince grabbed the phone from me and hung it up. He said, "Don't pay any attention to her, she's a psycho." He then offered me a record deal on Paisley Park. I told him I was very flattered but that I had to make it on my own. No handouts. He understood and was very kind about it. And that's all I remember about the dream at this point. If fragments come back to me during the day, I'll add them in later. What do you think it means, if anything???

It means you´re crazy to pass on an offer like that. Even if it was just a dream.

Seriously though, Paisley Park is the kiss of death. I wouldn't recommend it for any new act. You'd be over before you started and have less control than on a major label even.

Look at the career magic it has done for Apollonia and Vanity and Louie Louie and...eh, OK I get your point. But honestly, would you really say no thanks if Prince offered you a record deal? It´s a teeempting offer, no?

That's a good Prince dream. Don't they seem to stick to you even after you wake up, like somehow it really happened and it's more like a memory than a dream?
That happens to me anyway. I wouldn't think the dream means anything though. I have found that mine never do. I'm firmly planted in denial

I like the fact that I am not the only the only one that remembers their dreams in detail. This dream probably means you were sleeping comfortably and dreaming gracefully. -------------------------------------------------

I attempt to take apart my own dreams; truly believing that this is where our most important messages come from. Lemme take a stab:
cocktails: drinking, thirst for knowledge, searching hearing/discussing music: possitive connotations, music is healing to the soul, inner harmony dreaming about Prince: a so called star - your desire for recognition talking on the telephone: your attempt to express or justify yourself to others or someone in particular; a message that you are unwilling to listen to someone or your self about something??? dreaming about a dead person (his mother): represents change and that fact that it is a woman represents your 'collective consciousness' the way P treated his mother by hanging up and calling her physco: perhaps your feeling of the inner forces of your unconscious being misdirected. Mattie's comment about P's clothes: someone's trying to cover up something, protect themself or fending off people. Or more importantly, confirming a desire to avoid conformity. Which is actually your last statement and I think this is what the dream is all about.

Smart guy It seems that everybody who has ever worked with Prince is no longer on the scene. It's like they all just disappeared, with the exception of Jam and Lewis. And besides,Prince's record label seems to be non-existent these days anyway.
